Honestly speaking, 69.3% in PCM is quite low for Thapar University, even with Punjab quota.

For most BTech branches, Thapar's cut-offs (via JEE Main or 12th PCM) usually stay above 75–80%, and popular branches go much higher. With 69.3%, getting a regular BTech seat in Patiala campus is very unlikely.

That said, you might have a small chance in:

  • Less demanded branches

  • Later rounds / spot counselling (if seats remain)

  • Non-BTech or allied programs (if you're open to alternatives)

For Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), you'll usually need:

  • Class 10 & 12 mark sheets

  • JEE Main scorecard (for B.Tech)

  • Transfer Certificate / School Leaving Certificate

  • Character Certificate

  • Passport-size photographs

  • Photo ID (Aadhaar, etc.)

  • Category / domicile certificate (if applicable)

Exact requirements can vary by course, but these cover most admissions.

Thapar University admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses is based on candidates' performance in several national-level entrance exams. For TIET BTech admission, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score. Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CATNMATXATCMATMATGMATGRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission. TIET does not offer direct admission. Candidates seeking admission to TIET UG, PG and PhD courses need to appear for the course-specific entrance exams. Admission to BE/B.Tech programs shall be conducted through two modes. Applicants are
required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of single application form, they can seek admission through any mode, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

Hi there!
This is management's decision. Usually in most colleges 2nd year onwards students are settled first. Then they start the fresh batch and Orientation. Sometimes due to some technical Issues (could be admissions still on for the last few seats available etc. ). Dates are postponed. So this should not be a concerned area. Just Chill and Enjoy your College once it gets started. Thank you.
