Thapar University offers decent placements annually for its BTech course. According to the NIRF report 2026, 1900 BTech students of batch 2025 were placed out of the total 2205 graduated students with a median salary of INR 10 LPA.

TIET offers multiple placement opportunities to the students. Some of the top recruiters that took part in the TIET placement season 2025 were PwC, Deloitte, Nestle, TCS and Aditya Birla Group.

At Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology:
- Main campus = better faculty, exposure, peer group
- Stronger placement opportunities
- More companies + better overall environment
Dera Bassi campus is newer, so:
- Fewer opportunities comparatively
- Placements are okay but not at Patiala level
Even in 2020, most top companies and higher packages were centered around the Patiala campus.
So if you have the choice → CSE Patiala > CSE Dera Bassi 👍

Honestly, Mechanical at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is a solid but practical choice not a “dream” one.
You will get:
- Good campus, labs, exposure
- Decent peer group and opportunities
- Overall stable placements
But real talk:
- Core mechanical jobs are limited and not very high-paying
- Many students shift to IT/analytics later
- Your growth will depend a lot on your own skills, internships, projects
Simple take-
If your other options are similar or lower tier → it's worth it
If you're getting top NITs/IIITs or CS branches elsewhere → prefer thoseGo for it only if you're okay putting in extra effort or genuinely interested

Average packages for CSE-related branches are competitive, with good internship-to-PPO conversion. Overall, Thapar offers solid placement support, strong industry exposure, and a good alumni network.

Yes, Thapar University offers good placememts annually to its BTech students. course-wise placement stats are yet to br released. Overall highest and average package offered so far to batch 2026 stood at INR 60 LPA and INR 12.48 LPA. Earlier, 1260 students were placed during Thapar University placements 2025 with an average salary of INR 12.51 LPA.
