Thapar University offers multiple placement opportunities to the students. Some of the top recruiters that took part in the TIET placement season 2025 were PwC, Deloitte, Nestle, TCS and Aditya Birla Group.

At Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology:
- Main campus = better faculty, exposure, peer group
- Stronger placement opportunities
- More companies + better overall environment
Dera Bassi campus is newer, so:
- Fewer opportunities comparatively
- Placements are okay but not at Patiala level
Even in 2020, most top companies and higher packages were centered around the Patiala campus.
So if you have the choice → CSE Patiala > CSE Dera Bassi 👍

Honestly, Mechanical at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is a solid but practical choice not a “dream” one.
You will get:
- Good campus, labs, exposure
- Decent peer group and opportunities
- Overall stable placements
But real talk:
- Core mechanical jobs are limited and not very high-paying
- Many students shift to IT/analytics later
- Your growth will depend a lot on your own skills, internships, projects
Simple take-
If your other options are similar or lower tier → it's worth it
If you're getting top NITs/IIITs or CS branches elsewhere → prefer thoseGo for it only if you're okay putting in extra effort or genuinely interested

BTech placements at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) are generally strong, especially for CSE, COE, and ECE. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Google (limited roles), Deloitte, Accenture, JP Morgan, and many startups.
Average packages for CSE-related branches are competitive, with good internship-to-PPO conversion. Overall, Thapar offers solid placement support, strong industry exposure, and a good alumni network.
