As per the Tolani Maritime Institute admission guidelines, candidates requires a bachelor's degree with 60% percentile. Further, candidates must have the BTech in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Nautical Technology/ Naval Architecture/ Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering.

Marine Engineering and Technical Shipment are the two specialisations offered under the MSc cousre at Tolani Maritime Institute. The PG-level is a one-year programme. The course's curriculum includes engineering, management, and project work. TMI offers the MSc course in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (UK). After the completion of the 16 weeks of the MSc (Marine Engineering/ Technical Shipment) course at TMI, students can get direct admission to the second semester of the course at the University of Strathclyde for eight weeks.

Tolani Maritime Institute accepts Tolani Maritime Institute Science Aptitude Test (TMISAT) and Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) exam scores for admission to the BTech programme. Candidates willing to get admitted to the BTech course at TMI, must apply for the exams and secure a valid scores. TMISAT 2024 exam was held in July 2024 and The Indian Maritime University (IMU) also released IMU CET exam date: 2024 June 8.

Currently as of may 2024, in 3rd year BSc naughtical science, only 5 cadets are unplaced, out of which 3 of them have appeared for an interview and the result is yet to come. And by the end of the course the placement percentage for BSc naughtical Science will be 100%.

Tolani Maritime Institute, Pune is known for its course of B.Tech programme in Marine Engineering. Some other top courses at TMI include -
Diploma in Nautical Science, Certificate courses like Shipboard Structured Training Programmes (SSTP) for Deck Cadets, SSTP for NCV Cadets and Extra First Class Engineer course, DNS (IMU) one -year Diploma in Nautical Science that leads to a B.Sc. Applied Nautical Science (IMU).
TMI also offers other courses like Hazard Stimulation and Safety Awarness Training, Reefer Container courses, Basic and Advanced Hydraulic courses and High Voltage courses.
