Tolani Maritime Institute- TMI and Academy of Maritime Education and Training both are renowned universities for B.E. / B.Tech. However, in terms of affordability, Tolani Maritime Institute- TMI is a better option since the total tuition fee for Tolani Maritime Institute- TMI is INR 768,000 and the total tuition fee for B.E. / B.Tech at Academy of Maritime Education and Training is INR 360,000 - INR 1,540,000.
In the total fees that students generally end up paying the university or the college, various other components are also included, such as the exam fee, application fee, lab and other charges.

No, you cannot join Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) without appearing for the TMISAT entrance exam. The selection process for all programs at TMI, including B.Tech Marine Engineering, B.Sc Nautical Science, and DNS (IMU), is strictly based on the candidate's performance in the following:

  • 12th PCM marks
  • TMI Entrance Test (TMISAT)
  • Personal Interview
  • IMUCET rank (for B.Sc Nautical Science and DNS)
  • Medical fitness as per DG Shipping guidelines

Academic Qualifications: You must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with: At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (P C M). At least 50% marks in English either in 10th or 12th standard.For Tolani Maritime Institute admissions, candidates must have a valid IMUCET score. For some courses, TMI SAT scores are also mandatory, which is an in-house entrance exam of TMI. Candidates are then required to appear for this online test conducted by the institute.

Tolani Maritime Institute's selection process includes:

Candidate's 10+2 PCM marks.

Sorry to say, but Tolani Maritime Institute does not provide courses on MSc. 

But you will find courses on BTech Marine Engineering course for 4 years. BSc Naughtical Science is available for 3 years. Diploma in Naughtical Science for 1 year. All these courses are Undergraduate courses. 

The only Post graduate course available in Tolani Maritime Institute is ETO (Electro Technical Officer) course. One can join this course after doing engineering on electrical. This course is of 6 months.

The application forms for Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) are open for various courses, including B.Tech., M.E., B.Sc. Nautical Science, and DNS, commencing in August 2024. The last date for application for DNS is April 30, 2024, and for B.Tech., M.E., and B.Sc. Nautical Science, it is June 10, 2024.

As per the Tolani Maritime Institute admission guidelines, candidates requires a bachelor's degree with 60% percentile. Further, candidates must have the BTech in Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Nautical Technology/ Naval Architecture/ Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering.

Marine Engineering and Technical Shipment are the two specialisations offered under the MSc cousre at Tolani Maritime Institute. The PG-level is a one-year programme. The course's curriculum includes engineering, management, and project work. TMI offers the MSc course in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (UK). After the completion of the 16 weeks of the MSc (Marine Engineering/ Technical Shipment) course at TMI, students can get direct admission to the second semester of the course at the University of Strathclyde for eight weeks.

Tolani Maritime Institute accepts Tolani Maritime Institute Science Aptitude Test (TMISAT) and  Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) exam scores for admission to the BTech programme. Candidates willing to get admitted to the BTech course at TMI, must apply for the exams and secure a valid scores.

Currently as of may 2024, in 3rd year BSc naughtical science, only 5 cadets are unplaced, out of which 3 of them have appeared for an interview and the result is yet to come. And by the end of the course the placement percentage for BSc naughtical Science will be 100%.
