The University of Glasgow has a rich history of Indian students, starting in 1870 with Gopal Chandra Roy, the first Indian graduate. DR. Marbai Ardeasir became the first female graduate in 1897. Over 1000 Indian Students came to the University in the first of the 20th century. Today the Indian community has grown drastically to 10,000 people. Glasgow also has a vibrant Indian community with diverse cultural organisations. The University Welcomes Indian Students and continues to do so.
