UMBC is ranked at #601-700 in Shanghai rankings for 2024. In the previous year, this university was placed at #701-800. This shows that there has been a decline in the Shanghai rankings. Parameters used to calculate these rankings are quality of education, quality of faculty, research output, and per capita performance.

UMBC ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 is #601-800. This university ranked at the same position last year as well. Considering the world ranking of this university, it can be said this university has been ranking in the same position since the last 5 years. A few of the courses of this university that have also been ranked in 2025 include Computer Science at #301-400, Physical Sciences at #401-500, Psychology at #501-600.

The total number of students at UMBC University is 13,906, as of Fall 2024. Out of this, 10,767 are UG students. In the student diversity for Fall 2024, 17.8% students are international. The statistics for first-year UG students are given as follows:

  • Total first-year enrollment: 2,200+
  • Percentage of international students: 15.3%

The facts for graduate students as per 2023 are also available. The total no. of enrolled graduate students was 3,657. Of these, 56% were international students. Graduate students at UMBC came from 60+ countries.
