All Indian students are given the option by the US government to study there, but you must first apply for a student visa. Your age and the kind of education you want to undertake in the US will determine the sort of visa you require. You must apply to and be accepted by a US college or university that is approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP) as the first stage. Once accepted, the international student office at the school will provide you a Form I-20, which is a paper copy of the data contained in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) database. To study in USA, Indian students need to have a valid USA student visa. Your visa process starts when you receive the I-20 Form from your college/university. Also, you should pay the SEVIS I-901 fee before you start your US visa application. After paying the SEVIS fee, you need to apply to DS-160 visa form. Pay the visa fee and schedule a Biometric and interview appointment.

Indian students looking to study in USA need to acquire F1 visa. It is a non-immigrant visa (student visa) issued to international students who wish to attend educational institutions like universities or colleges in US. International students need to complete their programme in the US before the expiration date mentioned in their I-20 form. The application process remains same for most of the US universities, however, there might be a separate element for the application process for each of the universities. It varies depending on the different study programs and levels.

Yes, there could be problems if you change your legal first name spelling in India and apply for study abroad (visa application) in the USA.
The US Department of State (DOS) requires that your name on your visa application match the name on your passport. If your name spelling is different on your passport and visa application, the DOS may deny your visa application.
