The process for applying for a visa could start after you get a Form I-20 from your college. While you are able to pay the SEVIS fee at any point throughout the application process, it is strongly suggested that you do so before you start the US visa application process.
Once the SEVIS cost has been paid and a receipt has been obtained, you can complete a DS-160 visa application. It uses an online application form. Visa applications cost USD 185, which is equivalent to INR 15,343.9. After submitting the visa application cost, you must schedule an interview with the American Embassy or Consulate in your nation.

You must apply to and be accepted by a US college or university that is approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP) as the first stage. Once accepted, the international student office at the school will provide you a Form I-20, which is a paper copy of the data contained in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) database. The United States of America offers three types of visas to students; F-1, J-1 and M-1. So, the cost of a student visa will depend on the type of visa you are applying for. The US visa cost for a F-1 student visa is USD 185. F-1 visa is for international students who are applying for a programme in any American university that requires more than 18 hours of study in a week. J-1 student visa is for exchange students, and M-1 student visa is for students enrolled in vocational and non-academic programs.

To study in USA, Indian students need to have a valid USA student visa. Your visa process starts when you receive the I-20 Form from your college/university. Also, you should pay the SEVIS I-901 fee before you start your US visa application. After paying the SEVIS fee, you need to apply to DS-160 visa form. Pay the visa fee and schedule a Biometric and interview appointment.
