Yes, you can take admission in this college without considering your rank in WBJEE. You can apply through JEE Main rank, or also through management quota (direct admission).

Hi,
Unfortunately, you cannot. Jadavpur University accepts only WBJEE rank (not even JEE Main for admission in its engineering courses. So WBJEE is compulsory to get admission in Jadavpur University.

If you ask my opinion, then I would suggest you to try for admission in private engineering colleges like IEM, Heritage, Techno India, St. Thomas, through WBJEE. If you are not getting these colleges, then you can consider taking admission in Amity University Kolkata.

Through WBJEE, you can get admission in Jadavpur University, some other government colleges like Kalyani, GCECT, Jalpaiguri Engineering college, and a huge number of private engineering colleges in West Bengal.

Jadavpur is one of the best engineering colleges in India, so you have to get a very good rank to secure admission in it. The cut-offs for last year (after the 3rd round) were:
Chemical Engineering: 881
Civil Engineering: 984
Computer Science & Engineering/ Computer Science & Technology: 132
Construction Engineering: 1376
Electrical Engineering: 489
Electronics & Communication Engineering/Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering: 260
Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering: 1805
Information Technology: 422
Mechanical Engineering: 624.

The opening ranks (OR) and closing ranks (CR) for Electrical Engineering for this college were
In 2018: OR-16721 CR-101757
In 2017: OR- 24119 CR-100338
In 2016: OR- 20894 CR-80242
From these, you can get an idea of what rank you need to get to secure admission in this college.

If you are getting JU, then there is no question of admission in VIT. But if you are getting private colleges or government colleges except JU or maybe even Kalyani, then you can opt for VIT. It is better compared to these colleges in terms of academics, placements and industrial exposure.
