Placements for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering at University of Calcutta are decent, with many students finding jobs in sectors like pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and environmental consulting. However, the placement record has been below average in recent times compared to what it used to be till 2010-11. Some companies that recruit from this department include Haldia Petrochemical, BOC, Unilever, Linde, and Woods. The department has a strong emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, and many students go on to pursue higher education or find jobs in public sector companies through the GATE exam. Overall, the placement statistics vary by year, but many students get placed with a median salary of around 600k P.A.
