Calcutta University offers a vibrant campus spreading across 204 acres of land. The main campus area consists of 2.7 acres (approx.) of land, the satellite campus area constitutes around 16 acres of land, and the halls/hotels cover 4.5 acres of land. The university has 16 halls and hostels spread across the College Street Campus, providing students, including both male and female, with safe and comfortable housing. Besides the main campus, Calcutta University has three satellite campuses at Rajabazar, Alipore, and Hazra. Calcutta University Hostel and Residential Facilities

There are 16 halls and hostels available at the university. The Calcutta University hostel provides accommodation services to about 1550 students, including both male and female students. The University of Calcutta hostel provides a comfortable and secure stay to the students during the span of their course tenure. It also offers numerous amenities, and students often form lifelong memories through shared experiences. The hostels offer well-furnished rooms with all necessary amenities, equipped with modern surveillance systems offering a well-maintained and safe environment to the students. The halls/hostels are precisely supervised and managed by the Board of Residence, as an advisory body of the University of Calcutta.

Calcutta University Hostel Fees

The university has reserved separate halls and hostels for undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars. Admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate Halls will be made on the recommendation of the Committees constituted for the purpose by the Syndicate, University of Calcutta. Onboarders on admission will have to pay the following charges available separately for UG/PG and research scholars. Additionally, the University of Calcutta hostel fees are subject to revision from time to time.

Hostel fees for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students:

Further, students will also have to pay a one-time refundable caution deposit of Rs 300, which can be refunded at the end of the boardership tenure, subject to fulfilment of certain conditions.

Calcutta University Academic and Research Facilities

The University of Calcutta has an impressive academic infrastructure. It comprises large lecture halls, fully ventilated smart classrooms equipped with smart boards, projectors, and 24*7 wifi availability. The Calcutta University campus has state-of-the-art laboratories and research centres. Other than books, the eight major campuses of the University together possess nearly two lakh volumes of bound Journals, M.Phil. and Ph.D. dissertations, proceedings of conferences, reports, maps, standards, patents, newspapers, and manuscripts. It allows access to a collection of more than seven thousand electronic journals and fifty thousand or above e-books in downloadable format for users across all campuses. The University of Calcutta library provides access to more than seven thousand electronic journals and more than fifty thousand downloadable electronic books for all its users across all the campuses.

Additionally, Ashutosh Mukheerjee Central Library is one of the renowned libraries of Calcutta University, reflecting a symbol of the traditional and rich heritage of India.
