CIFE is a dream for every fisheries student and I am lucky I lived that dream.

Placements: Though maximum of the students want to carry out their higher study as Ph.D. scholar from CIFE, there are many opportunities for those who wants early settlement in life. If private sector is concerned, many fish feed manufacturing company like Godrej, CP, Avanti use to conduct yearly basis interview and choose the talents from CIFE. The higher posts of the company like the marketing supervisor, R and D are offered with lucrative deal to the students. The good reputation of CIFE assures a good placement scope for the students. If central job is concerned, there is always a chance to become an Agriculture Research Scientist (ARS) through the examination conducted by the Agriculture Research Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB), ICAR, government. Of West Bengal. The ICAR NET qualified students in respective discipline have the scope to become Assistant Professor in any Fisheries University. From my senior batch 6 students got selected as ARS, 3 students got selected in the marketing wing of Godrej feed company. Even in my batch though maximum of them were selected in their respective State government job, 2 students again got selected in Godrej feed company. The excellent placement scope is now attracting the young generation toward the fisheries sector, keeping CIFE at the centre of all of these.

Infrastructure: CIFE offers world class facilities to the students. The free Wi-Fi in whole campus allows the students to search scientific journals at any time to ease their research works. Even the labs are equipts with high class scientific instruments to allow the students for producing accurate and high quality research data. The students are covered under medical insurance. CIFE has world class sports facilities comprising an indoor stadium as well as an outdoor sports facility. The hostel is very comfortable and also offers broadband internet connection, good quality canteen mess operated by the students themselves, washing machine in each floor, a common room with a TV to update the students with daily news. Overall the infrastructure facilities are preety luxurious allowing the students to focus only on their study and high quality research work.

Faculty: CIFE has an excellent Faculty to educate the students. As the teachers are scientists themselves there isn't any question regarding their knowledge an qualification in this field. The PPT method of teaching helps the student to understand the topic more deeply followed by the practical classes so make the students confident and skillful. The curriculum offers an exposure visit to the respective field of practical working area. As Fisheries Science is a technical course, the course curriculum rightly offers both theoretical and practical exposure to the students.

Other: The each discipline of CIFE offers 1 seat as JRF seat from ICAR. CIFE offers scholarship of 7500/-to the students. The events like Onam, Durga puja, Ganesh puja, Dassera, Dandia are celebrated together. The annual sports, freshers party, year ending, Christmas events are worth to mention which allow the students to come together and celebrate.

This is the biggest educational institution of fisheries India.

Placements: The most common recruitments are in the state fisheries department. The agricultural scientist recruitment board takes the candidates for the scientists' posts once or twice a year. Also, they can be recruited as the assistant professor post in the state and central institutions. Also, in Banking fields as the agriculture experts.

Infrastructure: There is an awesome library. There is one of the most useful and well-equipped labs in Mumbai. The infrastructure is pretty awesome with beautiful classrooms. The canteen is not that much big, but good snacks are available at low rates. The hostel facilities include washing machines, indoor playground and many more things.

Faculty: The teachers are actually appointed as scientists as this is an education cum research institute. So, the quality of teaching is very good here. Very modern type of teaching experiences can be gained including the video conferencing. The practical experiences are taken as the most important part of education.

Students having UG degree with 3 years duration will not be considered for admission through ICAR AIEEA (PG)-2025 in AU under ICAR-AU system except in few courses at two ICAR-Deemed to be Universities (DUs), viz. IARI and NDRI for which the eligibility criteria of the concerned ICAR-DU including admission of graduates having passed with 3 years’ degree are eligible for admission. Student should not below 19 years of age as on 31.08.2025.
