BAOU offers admission to UG and PG programmes based on their merit in the last qualifying exam. Hence, aspirants do not require passing an entrance test. The selection is done purely based on merit. Aspirants only need to meet the eligibility requirement and apply for the preferred course to get admission in the university. Once the selection is done, candidates have to pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

BAOU admission 2025 is currently open for July session. Candidates wishing to get admission in the university can apply for the preferred course on the university website. BAOU application process generally begins around July and is concluded by October. The admission notice is published on the university official website.

The degrees/diplomas/certificates offered by BAOU Ahmedabad are treated at par with other UGC-approved universities' degrees/diplomas/certificates. However, according to the BAOU student reviews available on Shiksha, the highest package offered to BA students in the recent Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University placements was INR 12 LPA. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University also offers online courses through its Centre for Online Education (COE). BAOU course admissions are merit-based for most of the courses offered at the university. The university has a student network of 3 Lakh students.

BAOU provides more than 80 undergraduate, postgraduate, UG diploma, PG diploma, certificates, and doctoral programmes. The placement cell of the University establishes contact with industrial houses to arrange training and placement opportunities for the students. The BAOU placement cell also organises campus interviews and has signed MoUs with various business organisations and placement agencies. No. There is no age restriction at BAOU for admission provided the minimum qualification required for admission is fulfilled. Besides, candidates have to complete a minimum of Class 12 for UG and graduation for PG programmes. 

The open university offers a six-month-long certificate course in Childcare and Development (CCCD). Candidates who passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination and a two-year recognised ITI course after Class 10 and cleared NCVT or GCVT can apply. In order to get a pass certificate in CCCD, a student must secure at least 36% aggregate in each subject.
