Life of students in HIHT Shimla.

Placements: I did my hotel management from HIHT Shimla and the placements of the college were very good. Almost 90% of the students were placed in 5-star luxury hotels. The average package was 280,000 per year and placement was offered for big chain hotels like Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt.

Infrastructure: The faculty members were very good, having good knowledge about the subjects they were teaching and classrooms were spacious with equipped projectors for PPT presentations. The quality of food in the mess was okay; only the Sunday special lunch was always delicious.

Faculty: The teachers were very helpful in providing any knowledge about the industry standards and personality development sessions were conducted from time to time. The semester exams were conducted twice in each semester and the subjects were also different for each semester.

Other: The college was also encouraging students to participate in cultural activities that were performed during the annual day and freshers' party.

Himachal Pradesh University has a great placement experience.

Placements: In our college, students are eligible for campus placement in the 3rd year, and I don’t know the companies that visit our college. The highest package received is, I think, 8 LPA, and 70% of students are placed every year. My plan is to do a master's after my degree. There are also very good packages offered by national/international companies, with packages around 10 LPA.

Infrastructure: Freshers' parties and annual functions are held by the NCC and NSS faculty members. At the start of the new session, functions are held. The quantity and quality of books in the college library are good. However, no sports activities are held in college, and there are no student-run social groups.

Faculty: I have applied for the BCA professional course, which has 40 students. The faculty is not so good, but I liked the library. I don’t like the accounts office department. There are five subjects and a total of four exams in a year. I see a future in this BCA course and have plans for doing an MCA, etc. This course feels like it has real-world applications. The college campus cleanliness and canteen should be larger and cleaner. The canteen food also needs improvement.
