The Madhya Pradesh government founded Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University (MCBU) in 2015. Accredited by AICTE, AIU, AISHE, MPCST, and the University Grants Commission (UGC), it is recognized. In addition to the six districts, MCBU has affiliations with about 149 colleges in the districts of Niwari, Damoh, Sagar, Panna, and Tikamgarh. More than 100 courses are available for undergraduate and graduate degrees in science, art, and business at Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University.
