Hello Nishar Ahmed, knowledge of cutoff or closing ranks or marks in qualifying examination is definitely a very good indication for a student to assess his / her chances of getting admission in a particular institute. Getting admission for MBA is definitely one such area where students are really anxious to know in advance their chances of getting admission into their desired Institute. Many colleges therefore publish cut off or closing ranks so that the admission process of that Institute does not get cluttered with too many applications. Also to help students, many state governments have their own entrance exams for the government universities and colleges which are affiliated to these which are operating in their geographical areas. However deemed to be universities do not come under these rules and they are allowed to have their own procedures for admission. Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies is deemed to be university and as a result of this she is allowed to have her own admission process. They have taken advantage of this and designed their own admission process for MBA in their faculty of Management Studies. Even though they accept scores or ranking from National level entrance exam for MBA like CAT or MAT or XAT or any other similar examination but the twist is that the admission is not entirely based on these rankings. As a result of this it is just not possible to put any figure on to cut off ranking of these examinations. This University has assigned a weightage of 10% for marks obtained in 10th standard, in 12th standard and in graduation. Additional 10% weightage is assigned for behaviour skill test and also group discussion and essay. On top of it they have assigned 5% weightage for experience or extra curricular activities and also 20% weightage for personal interview. Remaining 25% weightage is available for ranking in any of the national level entrance test. So one can imagine the minuscule weightage given to this examination score and hence how it has a very minimal importance. Considering all these factors it can be safely assumed that if a student has even passed any of those nationality held entrance exam for MBA he or she is likely to get admission in this university provided he or she scores well in any of the other areas which have a combined weightage of 75%.Best wishes to you.
