Former President Ram Nath Kovind Commemorates Legal Luminary at Manav Rachna University

May 15, 2024: The prestigious Justice RC Lahoti Memorial Lecture Series was held at Manav Rachna University's (MRU) School of Law in a fitting homage to one of India's legal luminaries. This yearly event, a tribute to Honourable Justice R C Lahoti's rich legacy, aimed to inspire aspiring lawyers by reliving his amazing endeavours, judgements, and memories. The participation of the Honourable Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Former President of India, as the esteemed Chief Guest elevated the event to a historic moment in legal academia. Honourable Justice UU Lalit, former Chief Justice of India, attended the occasion as the Guest of Honour, bringing lustre to the proceedings.

In his Presidential Address, the venerable Sh. Ram Nath Kovind recalled fond encounters with Justice Lahoti, highlighting his noble soul and profound impact. Talking about Justice RC Lahoti, he said “Seldom do we come across persons, such as Justice Lahoti, who is known for his commitment towards judicial independence, integrity, deep humility in expressing his views and in upholding the rule of law. He showed a deep sense of tolerance and dignity that all of us could practice in our daily lives.

Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions & Chancellor of MRU, echoed the sentiment of historic significance.“It is a historical moment for the School of Law at Manav Rachna University - inauguration of a lecture series that commemorates one of the most celebrated legal luminaries of the country. The series will prove to be a fantastic opportunity for learning and I urge all the law students to absorb as much as they can from this platform to use it for the greater good.

Dr. Archana Mantri, daughter of Hon'ble (late) Justice RC Lahoti offered heartfelt reflections on the profound legacy associated with her esteemed father. “Justice Lahoti had a thirst for learning about different subjects, especially technology which he believed would be a game changer for the field of law”, she said.

Justice UU Lalit presented reflections on the Judicial discourse of Hon'ble Justice RC Lahoti and said, “There's no denying that Justice Lahoti was an institution unto himself. His courtroom interactions were not just about imparting justice but also about establishing precedents which will be applicable and acceptable to the entire community for years to come.”

The words of Prof. (Dr.) Deependra Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor of MRU resonated with reverence as he highlighted Justice Lahoti's foundational contributions to legal education, including the establishment of the Law Advisory Board and the Ratan Lal Lahoti Library of Law.

This intellectual odyssey not only celebrates the towering legacy of Justice R.C. Lahoti but also serves as a testimonial to the profound ethos espoused by the Hon'ble Shri R.C. Lahoti himself – a fervent champion of equity and probity.

An above-average private college with a bad reputation for no reason.

Placements: I would say the placement cell does a fine job of providing everyone with at least some opportunity. About 70-80% of applicable students are usually placed. The highest package was 18LPA from ECE, the average was 8LPA, and the lowest was 6.5LPA. Top companies include companies like TCS and Microsoft. Our college provides an on-campus internship which can be opted for by anyone; others can apply in other companies.

I am satisfied with the college. Focus on studies is important.

Placements: According to me, anybody can enter our batch. It is all about money. I have seen students who got 95% and some failed. The average salary package offered is 5 LPA. Internships are mostly paid. Some students get internships from their research. All students did not get placed. Students have to be sharp in their studies to get some good package jobs.
