Yes, you can join Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) based on merit. All students must meet the required percentage as per ttheir last educational qualification previous exams to be considered for admission.

For example, to be eligible for the BEd in Special Education course, candidates must be:

• Have a Master's Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities
• The candidate should have bachelor's programme with 50% aggregate.

Also eligible for the MBA course, students must be:

• Any graduate or Degree in Law/ Engineering/ Pharmacy/ Architecture
• Have a bachelor's degree from a recognised college or university.

Netaji Subhas Open University is accredited with A Grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). NSOU is approved by AICTE, Distance Education Bureau,  and UGC  (University Grants Commission). Netaji Open University is a member of AIU,  AAOU,  and ACU. This Open University in Kolkata was established in 1997. NSOU provides several MA specialisations, including Bengali, English, English Language Teaching, History, Political Science, Public Administration, and Education. Eligibility for these programmes varies; for example, candidates must have a BA or equivalent in the relevant stream from a recognised university to pursue an MA in Bengali. Similarly, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Education to pursue an MA in Education.Ed/B.Ed (Special Education) from a recognised university.

Students who are looking for admission at NSOU need to meet the last educational qualification.  Admission is through Management Entrance Test (NSOU-MET) followed by Personal Interview (PI) of 100marks. The NSOU-ET may be of 100 marks (English-30, Mathematics-30, Aptitude-20 and GK20) based on MCQ. The students may be selected on the basis of the results of NSOU-MET & PI.

There is no limit on the number of students who can do a BSc at Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU). NSOU is an open university, which means that it is open to all students who meet the minimum eligibility criteria.

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the BSc programme at NSOU is a pass in 10+2 examination from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates).

The admissions to the B.Sc programme at NSOU are done on a first-come-first-served basis. This means that the students who apply first are given priority in admission.

NSOU Kolkata offers study materials to the students after they enroll themselves in the programmes offered at the university. Students can collect their SLM, i.e. self-learning material from their allocated learner support centre. To collect the SLMs students have to show their receipt provided by the university. Students can also study from a softcopy of the same available on the official website. The study material is available in two mediums, i.e. English and Bengali.
