The Government of Tamil Nadu established Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) as the first university of the kind in Asia in 1989. It is the first veterinary University in the country to bag prestigious Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award in 2011. TANUVAS has six constituent colleges and 12 research stations. TANUVAS MVSc Admission 2025
MVSc is a two-year programme, admission to which is granted on the basis of candidate's performance in the common entrance test conducted by the University. Eligible candidates are called for counselling as per their rank. Out of the total seats, 75% of the admission strength is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The remaining 25% is reserved for candidates from other states through ICAR. The eligibility criteria for the course is provided below:

It is a five-and-a-half-year course, which includes four and a half years of academic learnings and one year of internship.
In order to qualify for the entrance exam, M.Tech aspirants must have completed BTech in Food Processing Technology/ Food Engineering/ Dairy Technology or equivalent course with a minimum of 55% aggregate.
The University offers more than 15 courses across Food Technology, Poultry and Veterinary Sciences.
The admissions to the BTech programme is merit-based. The University screens the application forms and shortlists the candidates according to their performance in Class 12. Eligible candidates are invited for seat allotment process through counselling.
The application fee for the General candidates is Rs 1,200 and for SC/ST candidates, it is Rs 600.
The application forms are usually released by the University in May every year. Candidates can visit the official website of the University to apply for admission.
For admission to MVSc, candidates need to appear for an entrance exam conducted by the University. The seats are allotted to the qualifying candidates according to their rank in the exam.
