University of Madras, Marina Campus Scholarships
Madras University Free Education Scheme (MUFES): The University of Madras offers free education scheme to help the students who are unable to pursue their higher education in undergraduate courses in the aided/ self-financed colleges only affiliated to University of Madras, owing to financial constraint (Tuition fee and Hostel fee only). The students residing in Chennai, Thiruvalluvar, and Kancheepuram districts are eligible to apply. The selection is done on the basis of economic status cum merit. The eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of the following conditions for the current year:
- Family income should not exceed Rs 2 LPA
- Family should not own a house or land
- Orphans, widow’s children, transgender, disabled, should obtain 50 per cent marks
- Candidates should be the first graduate in the family, should obtain 60 per cent marks
- Candidates whose mothers have been deserted should obtain 70 per cent marks
- Other candidates who have secured 80% and above marks will be considered on the basis of economic and family circumstances
- Candidates should have passed all subjects in the first attempt
- Last date for application submission will be 15 days after the publication of the higher secondary examination result
- Candidates should produce proof of documentary evidence such as income certificate, community certificate, first generation graduation certificate issued from the revenue department, ration card, etc.
