Overview

The CA Foundation application form Sep 2026 will open on July 06, 2026. ICAI has released the schedule for September session on official website. The registration window will remain open for submission till July 19 (without late fee) and July 22 (with late fee). The correction window will open for 3 days from July 23 to July 25, for registered candidates to edit their online form. The CA Foundation Sep examination 2026 will be conducted on Sep 02, 05, 07, and 09. Those who will fill the registration form will be able to download their hall ticket at official website.

How to Register for ICAI CA Exams 2026?

Chartered Accountancy aspirants can apply for CA Foundation exam by registering at the ICAI website by following the steps mentioned below:

For fresh applicants, the registration process for ICAI CA Foundation exam is mentioned below:

  • Click LOGIN/REGISTER on the main tab of the ICAI official website or eservices.icai.org
  • Click on 'New User Register here!' to register for ICAI Foundation exam as a fresh student
  • ICAI CA Registration Form will pop up on the screen
  • Enter Exam level, registration number, date of birth, valid email ID, mobile number, etc.
  • Click on confirmation/declaration and 'Register' button to complete ICAI CA Foundation exam registration

How to Fill ICAI CA Foundation Exam Application Form 2026?

Once ICAI CA registration 2026 is complete, proceed to fill the Foundation application form for your respective course/examination. Given below are the steps to follow:

  • Visit ICAI website SSP portal
  • Choose registration number in the drop-down
  • Authenticate using course+SRN+DOB
  • Once the authentication is done, enter email and registered mobile number
  • Login with the help of registration number and password
  • Provide residential address and other details 
  • Validate email ID and mobile number

Step 8: Fill the CA form and upload the necessary documents

Step 9: Make payment of the application fee to complete the process

Step 10: Download the duly filled CA Foundation exam form for future reference

CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for CA Foundation course are as follows:

  • Candidate should be registered in CA Foundation Course.
  • Candidate should be converted from CA CPT to CA Foundation before filling the exam form.
  • Candidate must have either passed class 12 from a recognized Board or appeared in the Class 12 exam.
  • Class 12 pass students must upload their marksheet in SSP and students appearing in class 12 exam must upload their admit card.

ICAI CA Application Form 2026: Documents Required

Candidates have to upload their photograph and signature while registering for CA Foundation exam.

Given below are the requirement for uploading candidate photo in the ICAI CA Foundation exam form:

  • The photo should be completely visible including ears against a white background.
  • The photo must have a clear contrast of the image.
  • Photo wearing goggles/caps/headgears will not be accepted.
  • Religious headgear is allowed but it should not cover the face.
  • Photo of the candidate wearing spectacles will be accepted.
  • The background of the photograph must be in white and clearly visible.
  • If flash is used while taking the picture then make sure that there is no “red-eye”.
  • Photograph should be in jpg/jpeg format and of 20-50 KB.

Given below are the requirements for uploading candidate signature in the ICAI CA exam form:

  • Signature should be done on a white sheet with a black pen.
  • The file size of the scanned image of signature must be between 10-20 KB.
  • The scanned signature should be well cropped so that there are no extra/white spaces and the format should be jpg/jpeg.

Important Instructions While Filling CA Foundation Form

Candidates must follow below instructions while filling CA Foundation online form:

  • The candidate will have to create a login ID on the official ICAI website through one-time registration.

  • After the candidate has registered, he/she will receive a username and password through an email. The same will be shared through an SMS on the phone number furnished at the time of one-time registration.

  • The candidate is required to furnish valid details and fill every mandatory field. Incomplete forms will be rejected.

  • After successful payment of the fees, the candidate will be required to download the duly filled form and take a print out of the same.

  • If the image upload does not appear on the printout, candidates can attach two latest photographs (passport size – 3.5X4.5 cm)– One attested and one non-attested.

  • If the signature is not appearing in the print-out of the CA application form then the candidate must sign at specified places and get it countersigned by parent/guardian at the specified place (in any case).

  • The candidate will be required to get the ICAI CA Foundation application form attested by a Chartered Accountant or a Gazetted Officer or Principal of School/College.

  • Candidates can change or upload their photograph and signature on the SSP before submitting the exam form. The form correction window will be opened a day after form submission closure for candidates to make these changes. 

Note: To fill the CA Foundation exam form 2026, students must have valid login credentials on Self Service Portal (SSP). If the validity of the registration has lapsed, they must re-validate or convert on SSP at eservices.icai.org. CA Foundation course registration is valid for 3 years

Revalidation for CA Form Filling: 

Students can revalidate their course registration from the Self Service Portal on expiry of the said period. The fee for revalidation of course is INR 300 for CA Foundation.

Conversion: Candidate whose course code in their dashboard is not as under need to convert to new course before making application. 
Foundation : NEWFND23 or CONFND23. 

For Conversion, candidates can log on to SSP portal and:

Candidates will have to pay additional INR 600 towards late fee (for four Domestic & Kathmandu centres) and USD 10 (for Overseas Centres) after the exam form submission deadline. Given below is the ICAI CA Foundation exam fee to be paid for exam registration.

CA Foundation Form Correction 2026

The ICAI provides candidates one time opportunity to make changes in the already submitted CA Foundation exam form. Under the form correction process, they can edit a certain number of fields, if required. Candidates can edit exam medium and test city. Check below the CA Foundation form correction process. 

  • Go to https://eservices.icai.org
  • Login with ID and password 
  • Open your CA Foundation exam form and review relevant fields
  • If no editing is required, select “No change required”
  • If editing is required select “Changes required”
  • Make changes and verify the OTP received in mobile and email
  • Upload a scanned handwritten application, signed by you (in relevant format)
  • After submission, print the acknowledgement form

Q:   How many attempts are allowed in CA course?
A: 

In the CA course, candidates can make any number of attempts until they clear a particular level. They will be eligible to register for the next level only after clearing the previous level. For example, a candidate needs to clear the CA Foundation level to be able to register for CA Intermediate. For appearing in CA Final exams, a candidate needs to clear both Foundation and Intermediate levels.
Since, the level of difficulty of this course is very high, a maximum percentage of students make multiple attempts. Candidates who decide to pursue CA course, need to make sure that they are well prepared to a marathon of studies, preparation and exams.

Q:   Do I need to create fresh login for every attempt of CA Foundation exam?
A: 

No, candidates do not need to create fresh login for every attempt of CA Foundation exam. Students can register for the CA Foundation exam with the login created for the first time. The same login ID remains valid for the entire course. Students must note that to apply for the exam, they have to create a login at SSP portal of the ICAI exam and not on the home website. The SSP Portal login is valid upto 3 years for Foundation. Candidates can revalidate their login upon expiry by paying INR 300.

Q:   How is CA exam evaluated by the ICAI?
A: 

The ICAI follows a fair method of evaluation of exam papers of candidates. Be it CA Foundation, CA Intermediate or CA Final exam papers, the ICAI checks the paper on merit of the arguments made. In theory paper, the points are given on language of the answer, clarity of the argument and presentation. In practical papers, marks are awarded if the answer is supported by working notes. If the answer is presented well, clearly in tabular format with working notes (showing calculation), it is sure to get marks. Students say that working notes help in getting grace marks.

Q:   Is there sectional time limit in ICAI CA Foundation exam?
A: 

No, there is no sectional time limit in CA Foundation exam. Candidates have to complete their Paper 1 and Paper 2 in 3 hours and answer questions of Paper 3 and Paper 4 in two hours.

Note: There is no break between two papers.

Q:   I attempted 2 wrong questions in CA Foundation exam. Will there be negative marking?
A: 

There are two types of questions asked in CA Foundation exam. Paper 1 and Paper 2 have subjective type questions. Paper 3 and Paper 4 have objective type questions.

There is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer in Paper 3 and Paper 4 only.

Q:   What is the exam timings for CA Foundation Paper 1, 2, 3 and 4?

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will conduct upcoming session of CA Foundation exam in May 2026. The exam dates have been released. The ICAI CA Foundation May 2026 exam will be conducted on 14th, 16th, 18th & 20th May 2026.

Q:   Will there be advance reading time in CA Foundation exam?
A: 

There are four papers in CA Foundation exam. According to exam pattern, Paper 1 & 2 have subjective type questions, and Paper 3 & 4 have objective type questions. ICAI will only give 15 minutes advance reading time for Paper 1 and Paper 2. 

The question paper seal for Paper 3 and 4 will be opened at 2 PM, i.e., the exam commencement time only.

Q:   Can I get CA Foundation admit card via post?
A: 

No, ICAI will not send physical admit card to any candidate for CA Foundation exam. Eligible candidates will have to download and take a print out of their admit card on their own.
