CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2018: Mathematics Paper Analysis by Board Examiner

CBSE Class XII Mathematics Board Exam was held across various test centres in the country from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on March 21, 2018. Considered to be one subject that most students fear, Maths class 12 board exam 2018 came as a welcome relief. Most of the students shared that the board exam question paper for Mathematics was easy but a little lengthy.
Test Pattern & Marking Scheme
The test pattern and marking scheme was exactly as prescribed by CBSE. The exam paper was divided into four sections – A, B, C and D. Section D of Maths board exam was a bit lengthy.

Topics from which Maximum Questions asked
The topic Calculus carries a significant weightage in the syllabus. A lot of questions in the exam were from Vector Algebra, Determinants and Probability.

Difficulty Level
The exam was average with respect to difficulty level. About 60% of the questions asked were from NCERT textbooks and sample question papers released by CBSE. There were only 2 or 3 questions which required students to thoroughly go through the question asked.
About 20% of the questions asked were very easy, 60% of the questions were average in terms of difficulty level and the remaining 20% were difficult. However, the difficulty level was not that high that students would have found the questions asked difficult to attempt.
Test Pattern as Compared to Previous Year’s Papers
CBSE Class 12 board exam questions asked were similar to that asked in previous year’s paper. The difficulty level of the questions asked by lower than last year.
It would be easy for students to score 70-80 marks out of 100 in CBSE Class 12 board exam for Maths.
