Important guidelines made by DDMA with respect to school reopening include 50 per cent attendance, mandatory thermal screening, staggered lunch breaks, seating arrangements following social distancing and avoiding routine guest visits.

Delhi School Reopening: Schools in the National Capital have reopened for all classes from Monday, i.e. November 1, 2021, after being shut for more than 19 months.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in the last week of October announced that schools would reopen for all classes from November 1. However, considering the ongoing pandemic situation, schools have received directions to continue teaching and learning in blended mode. No students will be forced to attend offline classes. Students can attend online classes as well. In order to attend school, students have to present written consent from parents.

Ahead of the school reopening in Delhi, state education minister Manish Sisodia met students at the Rajkiya Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya on Monday. To ensure safety and prevent COVID-19 spread, DDMA had also directed schools to ensure no more than 50 per cent attendance in a class at one point of time.

Meanwhile, various private schools are waiting to commence offline classes after Diwali for the younger children. Reports suggest that government schools that reopened for primary, as well as secondary classes on Monday, witnessed moderate turnout.

Important guidelines made by DDMA with respect to school reopening include 50 per cent attendance, mandatory thermal screening, staggered lunch breaks, seating arrangements following social distancing and avoiding routine guest visits.

Schools in Delhi were ordered to shut last year in March ahead of a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the pandemic. The teaching-learning process was being conducted via various virtual modes in order to prevent academic loss.
