Don’t stop learning, don’t stop challenging, says Kumar Abhijeet
From an early age, I have been a problem solver. I was the child who would take apart anything just to see how it worked and then try to put it back together, which generally didn’t happen (I was grounded for this sometimes). Today as I reflect back, it is safe to say that I am still that child who breaks and builds things but have gotten better at building as well.
Throughout my life, I have listened to people reflect on their college experience and how it is supposed to be the best experience of life. But there was a time when I wasn’t even sure I would be accepted by any college. However, fortunately, The NorthCap University gave me a chance to redeem myself and since that day I haven’t looked back whatever might the situation be. School education being a generalised education system didn’t entice the student in me as I always wanted to be specific with what I learned rather than what the school wanted me to learn which lead to me being labelled an average student. But who knew it was all to change for something much better and rewarding.
This University has let me grow in ways that even I hadn’t perceived I was capable of, today the multitude of talent that I have been able to achieve is because of the opportunities provided by the college and the belief that the teachers had in my capabilities.
One of the most interesting stages in life that gives you an opportunity to explore is the college phase. It is the age where you yourself and invest in your own development. This golden period better equips you for all the challenges you will face in life and create a strong foundation of knowledge. From the moment, I stepped foot in the college I had made up my mind to be known as an all-rounder and after four years of being in this University, I can proudly say I have been successful. This University has let me grow in ways that even I hadn’t perceived I was capable of, today the multitude of talent that I have been able to achieve is because of the opportunities provided by the college and the belief that the teachers had in my capabilities. I am not the topper of my branch but what I am is a person who has achieved the same respect and recognition, it’s not just about performing well but about learning the subjects and applying the concepts into a scenario. The knowledge imparted by the professors and the assistance has made me capable enough to take on any task and give my best without being scared of the implications or result that awaits me.
Don’t stop learning. Don’t stop challenging.
From that day to this day as I pen down my experience that zeal to give my best burns within me with all its might. I was able to earn a place in my class as a student who was capable of handling multiple tasks and be good at it, which lead to me being able to forge friendships with not only my branch students but with my seniors as well. I challenged myself by participating in events with my seniors which lead to me grabbing knowledge from the veterans and be able to stand toe to toe with them. We ended up participating in various events and being recognised for our efforts. Since the base was made I shifted my focus on research and extracurricular activities such as organising events at IIT and being recognised on inter-college level for innovative ideas and was awarded the best IDEA Award at GD Goenka University. Even with me roaming around the college I didn’t let my studies suffer and was able to maintain a respectable CGPA above 8.5 throughout my college life. It seems like yesterday as I completed my third year and was selected by Daikin for an internship program. I was one of the fortunate 48 students selected across India for the internship and one of the three candidates from our college. During my work at Daikin, I was recognised for my hard work and presentation skills and was awarded the best presenter award and ranked seventh overall, but the story didn’t end here as I was offered a PPO from the company and since then its all history. My college life has been full of adventures and challenges that made me what I am. No two people follow the same path but I urge the future students to not miss any opportunity that the university might provide.
In my first year of college, I was fortunate enough to find a professor that was able to channel my energy in the right direction and show what I am capable of.
