Internships in N.L. Dalmia

Introduction

The N.L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research (NDIMSR) has seen its academic batch of 2021–2023, which comprises of 296 students, bag good summer internship opportunities in various reputed organizations. Being a B-school, it is famous for Finance, wherein one can safely expect a much higher number of placement opportunities when compared to HR and Marketing. NDIMSR, on their official website, has bifurcated all the internship-related information of their entire batch into three parts: Finance, Marketing, and HR. This information includes the batch profile and size; work experience split; average and highest stipend per month; top recruiting companies; and the respective sectors they belong to.

Finance batch

Batch size: With a total batch size of 191, there are 107 male and 84 female students. Out of which 118 of them are fresher, when it comes to work experience and 18 have worked for less than a year prior to their MBA journey, whereas 55 have an experience of more than a year. 

Stipend & sectors: While the monthly average stipend ranges up to INR 10,000, the highest amount went around 1,08,000. The recruiters belonged to multiple sectors such as BFSI, Consulting, Fintech, FMCG, etc.

Recruiters’ list: Some of the top recruiting companies that participated in the recruitment drive are as follows: ICICI Bank, Bloomberg, TCS, DCB Bank, Crisil, etc. 

Marketing batch

Batch size: With a relative smaller batch size of 78, there are 44 male and 34 female students. In terms of work experience, 37 of them are freshers, 15 have worked for less than a year prior to their MBA journey, whereas 26 have an experience of more than a year. 

Stipend & sectors: While the average stipend was INR 7,000 per month, the highest amount bagged was INR 25,000. The recruiters belonged to multiple sectors such as Market Research, IT, Real Estate, etc. 

Recruiters’ list: Some of the elite companies that participated in the summer internship process are Dunzo, Burger King, Amul, Kalpataru, Britannia, to name a few.  

HR batch

Batch size: With the smallest batch size of just 27, there are just 6 males as compared to 21 female students. While 13 students are freshers, 4 have worked for less than one year, and 10 have a work experience of more than a year.

Stipend & sectors: While the average stipend received was INR 6,800 per month, the highest stipend was INR 25,000. The recruiters belonged to multiple sectors such as Retail, Pharma, Ed.tech amongst others. 

Recruiters’ list: Some of the elite companies that participated in the summer internship process are TATA Power, Aditya Birla Capital, L&T Realty among others.   

Summer Internship Details of 2020-2022 & 2019-2021 batches

While the college hasn’t mentioned any details about the summer internship stipend for its previous two academic batches (2022 & 2021), it has mentioned that 87% of the recruiters were from BFSI background in 2020 while the 2021 batch saw 49% of the recruiters from BFSI and 27% from consulting sectors. 

Conclusion

For someone who wishes to pursue Finance in N.L. Dalmia, the student can be rest assured of having a plethora of opportunities for summer internships, live projects, as well as final placements. With an average monthly stipend of approx. INR 8,000 offered across the three batches, students can learn and earn in some of the really good companies out there. NL Dalmia also traditionally sees a good mixture of recruiters from various backgrounds who prefer both freshers and experienced candidates alike. Hence, it is widely considered to be one of the best B-schools especially for Finance.

CMAT is one of the accepting exams for admission to PGDM. In 2024, the overall CMAT cutoff was 85. This was same in 2023 as well. However, it is not compulsory to have a CMAT score for admission. Aspirants with a valid score in CAT, MAT, ATMA, etc. can also get admission in the PGDM programme.
