Mega PTM launched by Delhi govt helped parents get involved in child's development process: Research
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the Mega PTM initiative in 2016 with an aim to increase parental engagement in its schools and connect society with these institutions.
Research conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training states that the "Mega PTM" initiative taken by the Delhi government has helped 97 percent of the parents increase their participation in the overall development of their children. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the Mega PTM initiative in 2016 with an aim to increase parental engagement in its schools and connect society with these institutions.
The official statement released regarding the initiative states that the purpose of ‘Mega PTM’ was to bridge the communication gap between parents and teachers. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said along with teacher training, SCERT Delhi was also playing an important role in the field of educational research."In the last several years, the role of SCERT has been more prominent in the field of training and the field of research could not receive due attention. "However, now SCERT Delhi has demonstrated that it is prepared to work in the field of research," he said according to NDTV.
The Deputy CM also appreciated the SCERT Delhi director and his team for this step in the field of research. The minister said, "This research done by SCERT will prove to be helpful in adopting necessary changes in educational programmes and policies."
SCERT Delhi research revealed that almost 70 percent of the parents believed that the educational environment in the Delhi government schools has changed, the schools are cleaner and better maintained than before. It also stated that parents and teachers agreed that Mega PTM will increase the regularity of children in schools and their academic performance in the future.
"Research has found that 40 percent of parents consider failure to be a part of the learning process for children. Ninety-seven per cent of the parents have agreed that Mega PTM should be organised more often in order to improve the performance of the children, their participation in the class, social and mental development of the children," the statement said.
