I aim to resolve economic, environmental and societal concerns of solid waste processing, Shivam Vats

One such epitome of building professional contacts was when I participated in an international conference (NuGen – 2019) and got an offer of Paid Internship at AVL Gmbh, Graz (Austria) due to my interaction with a senior official of AVL Gmbh. The financial aid from the College management to boost the morale and pique interest of students in such events was always a great help indeed.

Kindergarten, school and college are those milestones that convert human of low conscience to an intelligent person with valuable memories and experience. Our learning and perception to life, we face until our maturity, make us the person we will be in our remnant life. I have been a mediocre student with big ambitions before my college days, but, I missed the perfect medium or the platform that could help me flourish and reach my goals. My life at The NorthCap University shaped me and channelised my enthusiasm for alternative fuels and non-conventional energy resources. My constant interaction with the faculty members helped me participate in technical events and international conferences.

The faculty members of Mechanical Engineering always extolled me to gain practical experience and accompanied me in the laboratories, equipped with precise and advance experimental apparatus, to understand many obscure concepts.

I carried out extensive research on utilisation of biodiesel blends in variable compression ratio diesel engine, wherein the observations and results were communicated to a well-reputed international conference (FISITA World Congress 2020, Prague). Similar work was done in bachelor’s thesis on the assessment of experimental and computational results of biodiesel blend firing in an Industrial boiler. The advanced analysis software (ANSYS Workbench 16.2) facilitated me to run simulations and complete my study on combustion successfully. Meanwhile, certain competitions such as ISIE-ESVC 2018, MECHSKILL 2019 and ICEFCT-19 were national technical events which not only gave me opportunities to interact with students of other colleges and build inter-personal communication skills but live the joyful life with college peers and explore the parts of India where events were held.

The financial aid from the College management to boost the morale and pique interest of students in such events was always a great help indeed. I used to spend most of the time in the library where I could easily get access to the cutting-edge research through journals available on the Web OPAC portal and in the library premises itself. The personal computers in the library also proved out to be very utilitarian as I used them for the preparation of competitive examinations like Graduate record examination (GRE) and IELTS. Most importantly, while elaborating about one’s experience at the college, one can never refrain from touching upon the precious chai time with friends in the free lectures or getting busy in the fields with sports.

Today, I as a Trainee at Siemens Power Engineering really feel that my journey was overwhelming and too extraordinary to brief them, but, I can always reason that it wouldn’t have been possible if such great staff, resources and equipment were not at disposal. Now, as an alumnus of The NorthCap University, I look forward to my Postgraduate studies in Waste Process Engineering at the University of Stuttgart in Germany to resolve economic, environmental and societal concerns of solid waste processing in order to bring a positive impact in the world. In essence, I appreciate the pedagogy at The NorthCap University and would really recommend the aspirants to pursue their career in Mechanical Engineering at The NorthCap University.
