I joined Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology college based on my class 12 marks, says Subha

My course of study in Class 11 and 12 was really tedious, as I opted for the science group. It was my own decision because I knew I would join engineering for sure after my Class 12, at the same time my passion for Biology made me ignore the computer science group. I chose my UG course out of passion. I have always, from my childhood had a great interest and was highly enthusiastic in knowing the flying objects and also the planetary motions from my high school geography lessons played a major role while choosing my UG, this made me pursue Aerospace Engineering where I had the chance of learning Aeronautics and Astronautics i.e. space-related things as well

I joined Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology college based on my class 12 marks, for which I even received a scholarship, which waived a particular amount off my tuition fees for all eight semesters of academics. I did not appear for any specific entrance exams to join here. I gave my JEE entrance exams but as luck would have it, at the time of my joining JEE marks were not big criteria for joining here. But of course, scholarships were given based on it. The biggest challenge I faced was the change of atmosphere there. I did my schooling in Chennai and when I planned to do my UG in a rural sector, the adaptation there was the only problem. That too, I did not dwell with it for a long time, my faculty and friends and even the supporting staffs in the hostel there made me so comfortable, that within a weeks time I was really feeling very good and started loving the atmosphere there.

I spent my time in the college in a very fruitful way. The management kept us always busy through the regular arrangements of symposiums, guest lectures, workshops etc. We were always made to do something or the other. There was a lot of fun involved in all the events too, along with our feed to the knowledge. Not only in the academic side, but the events of sports day, cultural programs and annual day were also conducted in regular intervals of time. Apart from this, the best thing was the arrangement of industrial visits for all the departments. It not only gave us an updated industrial exposure but also gave us some real relaxation from our routine lives. The things above said were all parts of the management helping me to spend my time. Now, on the weekends I spend my time reading some books in our library.

I enrolled myself in NCC due to which regular parade classes being conducted, where indeed, I really built and brought out my social skills, the quality of leadership, brotherhood, and where I learned the importance of peace &harmonical co-existence. The main advantage in my NCC career was, I was enrolled in NCC Airwing, which was really helpful and I correlated many things from it with my academics also. All these events taught me various qualities like responsibility, decision making, leadership, organizing skills, public speaking, discipline etc. Which made me turn out into a more complete and mature individual. All these qualities being inculcated in me at this early stages will definitely make me built a strong career for myself, which in turn would be a lot helpful for society.

As I already mentioned above, that I am a defense aspirant, I would join the Armed forces in the near future.
