Looking at current pandemic situation, I see a great opportunity in the field of biotechnology, says R Divya
I am not passionate about Science. I love animals since a long time and I wanted to serve them. I wanted to give a better world to live and this why I chose Science. After school, I wanted to pursue something related to biology so that it helps me to serve the purpose for which I chose this domain. Biotechnology attracted me, so in an educational fair at Andaman, I saw a stall where the B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology got introduced to me. At first, I was attracted because of the location as it is near to my home and then when I visited the college campus the green environment attracted me. That’s why I chose this institute.
I appeared for NEET exam, but the result was not in my favour. I didn’t go for any special coaching classes for the entrance. Then, I applied for Biotechnology in Crescent. Admission time was really tough, as I am a student from Andaman and all my documents were stuck at my place. But the staff in the admission cell were so understanding they gave me ample time to submit the documents. I didn’t try for any other college.
Our college timing is from 9 am to 4 pm. I spend most of my time attending the class or in the library or sometimes in events conducted in our college. The college organises various informative sessions for students. There are a number of student-run societies and I am a part of Rotaract Club in our college. That’s where I learned leadership skills and became a confident person. Other things that I want to do is learning music. It has been a craze for a very long time. My college experience has changed me a lot as a person, I have gained a lot of experience in these three years of my college life. I see a great opportunity in biotechnology ahead. Also, the current pandemic situation in the world has opened a lot of channels for research and development in biotechnology.
Going ahead in life, I wish to peruse Masters in Biotechnology to improve the health sector in our country and to create greater scope for biotechnology in India.
