Skills required for a career in Design industry

• Creative skills- The first and premier skill requisite in a designer which needs no preface, is creativity. Design and creativity genius work in tandem. It is very essential to have an aesthetic flair and visionary cells if you want to pursue a career in design. To come up with original ideas and exclusive designs are some of the things for which designers are required round the clock. If an individual is competent in delivering their ideas with an ingenious flair and creative imagination half of the job is done.
• Analytical skills- A career in design essentially deals with creativity but it also compels me to have analytical skills to resolve problems. Most new-age businesses run on logical reasoning. Ideas originate with a creative rationale but it gets boxed up and formulated with the investigative mind. It is required for an individual to consider both, creative and analytical side aspects in order to build a rewarding career in design.
• Communication skills- Communication skills can be developed within an individual or can be imparted over time. Any idea, as initiated must not lose its essence on the brink of communication. Communication is the base of every interaction in every aspect of life. Designing is the skill to communicate ideas, thinking and the process behind the design. And this alone makes communication skills equally important

• Business skills- A marketable idea is what propagates in the market. Hence, not just the idea but the marketing aspect behind the idea must also be considered. The idea is a success when it has an investor and eventually a buyer. One must have a fair share of business acumen and business tactics for a design to sell and ultimately make it a brand.
• Computer skills- While we talk about the present digital age, everything is managed online. While a proficient designer is one who is well equipped with computer skills. Having a primitive understanding of Adobe, HTML, XML, Javascript and CSS or any other professional software that is the need of the hour, only adds a feather to the cap. It makes the designing mechanism much smoother and more productive.
• Sustainable approach- A successful designer is the one who transforms his care about the world into his work. The privilege lies in building and accomplishing ideas and services that will not stifle existing resources or preferred outcomes. It means he/she has to unearth ways and solutions to have a more sensible concept.
• Collaboration over Competition- It is an added advantage to have collaborative skills for a blooming design career. One should not be too rigid with his/her ideation and must be open to change. Being involved in a discourse gives an opportunity to know how different minds think and is a breeding ground for innovations.
