In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Professor, Accurate Group of Institutions Dr Meenakshi Kaushik talks at length about the initiatives taken by the institute to impart practical exposure to the students for a quality learning experience. She elaborates on the industry-oriented curriculum, extensive use of real-life case studies, simulation games, research-based individual/group projects, Problem Based Learning (PBL), Business Quiz, workshops, internships and live projects. She explains in detail the journey of making students industry-ready.

Dr Meenakshi is an MBA and PhD degree holder in Leadership Development from the University of Rajasthan. With over 17 years of industry and academic experience, Dr Kaushik aims at delivering quality education to every student.

Q: What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?

A: Seeing the cut-throat competition in the market and the pragmatic nature of employment in the dynamic business world, the modern business education system in higher education has opened up new vistas of practical teaching methodologies for the teachers in business studies. The usual method of teaching in our institution is the lecturing method. But to teach the nuts and bolts of dynamic nature of business concepts, personal feelings, only lecturing method is not sufficient and satisfactory and even students in modern trend prefer their teachers to impart education in both lecturing and non-lecturing methods to get a clear cut insight.  Our institution is including various teaching methods such as Case study, Role play, Simulation and business games, Research-based individual/group projects, Learning in communities (Team learning), Hands-on learning and Internships, group discussions on real industry-based issues and brainstorming, Industry visits, Films and audio-visual methods teaching with a digital edge, Problem-based learning (PBL), Business Quiz, Workshops and conferences and Short written exercises. Due to the global pandemic situation, presently we keep on conducting and inviting industry speakers online to impart their sessions on real industry-based issues and various other entrepreneurial activities.

Q: What quality do your students have which other college students lack?

A: I think students are almost the same in all campuses, what matters is their grooming, motivation and innovative opportunities given to develop them into a good corporate professional

Q: How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?

A: We are coming up with industry integrated courses and also planning to impart practical knowledge about the real market and jobs by conducting regular classes of personality development and grooming, case study, role plays and various management games to enhance their analytical capability. We also have different clubs such as HR, Marketing, Finance and Entrepreneurial clubs where students participate in various activities and learn many new skills required by the industry.

Apart from that our esteemed institution keeps on taking inputs from the industry to frame its curriculum that suits their needs. Accordingly, we train our students.

We also conduct various certification programmes as per the requirements of the market.

A number of subjects have been introduced considering the industry demand such as digital marketing, data analytics, financial modeling and many more.

We also call experts on campus to facilitate guest lectures on how to operate stock market trading platform and face the world.

From time to time we invite industry leaders to our campus for conducting sessions and training programmes. Similarly, we also facilitate regular industry visits for our students to get practical exposure and understand how real business works.

Q: Do you think the curriculum of the courses taught in your institute fits in the requirement of the industry?

A: Yes, of course. As mentioned above, the curriculum of our PGDM programme is designed in close coordination with the industry experts to understand the current practices and trends. This helps us in moving a step ahead towards making students industry-ready.

Apart from this, we keep on inviting industry professionals and educationists from IIM and other reputed institutions and universities for delivering guest lecturers on the latest happnings and practices in the industry.

Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?

A: Yes, we are receptive to innovation, technology, science and entrepreneurship as these are the need of the hour and without these students can’t be competent. In order to develop these skills in our students, our faculty members take extra efforts to discuss and conduct various real-life based industry-related case studies, management games and role plays. Apart from these, we send our students to attend various workshops, conferences and seminars. We also conduct many entrepreneurial activities for them to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Various faculty members conduct presentations and PDP sessions to enhance their confidence and morale-boosting. Semester wise students also go for industrial visits, national and international tours.
