In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Dean-MET Asian Management Development Centre Professor Arun Patil talks at length about the institute's pedagogy. He goes into detail talking about the mandatory internship experience for students which is essential for industrial exposure. AMDC is a new-age management institute that focuses on the holistic development of the students by inculcating as must practical knowledge in them as possible.
Professor Patil has over 27 years of rich corporate experience working with companies such as LIC, ICICI Prudential and Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance holding senior positions as Head & Senior Vice President.

Q: What are the three things that your institute is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from the competition?
A: We believe in creating not only experts in various fields of management, but also fine human beings contributing to societal growth and national welfare. The various pedagogies used by us – lectures, case studies, live projects, discussions, debates, field surveys, industrial visits, outbound programmes, cultural festivals, guest lectures, presentations & so on, give the students a complete experiential exposure and develop them holistically.
Q: What are the top three initiatives undertaken by you that are helping your students become more industry-ready?
A: Apart from all the above differentiators, Two–months’ summer internship, ongoing live projects, guest–lectures by industry experts, the continuous interface between industry and academia, mentoring by alumni and faculty–upgradation are employed to make students industry-ready.
Q: What are the key attributes that a student should have in order to qualify for your institution and perform well?
A: The qualities required in students are a high level of IQ and EQ, excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to learn, leadership traits, the group–participation, teamwork, discipline, academic rigour, social commitment, honesty, integrity, high ethical and moral values, innovation, tech-savvy and multi–dimensional personality. These qualities will also help students to excel in the curriculum.
Q: Which programme/s would you say is/are your best? What is it that helps your institution differentiate itself for this programme?
A: Being an autonomous institute, we continuously upgrade our syllabus in tune with changing times and needs of the industry. Over the years, we have introduced several new subjects such as Business Ethics, CSR., Digital Marketing, Strategic Business Analytics, Advanced Excel, Real Estate, Leadership modules, Life Management, Life Skills, and HR Analytics.
Q: What are you doing to improve/ drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni? What kind of jobs routinely come to campus? What would you say are the key recruitment trends for your college (observed over the past five years)?
A: Being a dynamic academic institution, we evolve with changing times in this VUCA world. Pandemic–induced circumstances have led to greater reliance on technology by way of the online recruitment process, Induction & Foundation programmes, regular lectures, seminars, workshops and examinations. We have started an Innovation Incubation Center recently. By inviting prominent entrepreneurs for interaction with students, we plant the seeds of future start-up and business leaders
