A workshop titled "Choosing the Right Specialization for the Right Placement" was held at IMS Ghaziabad. It was a two-day workshop from March 2nd to March 3rd, 2022. It was conducted for the batch of 2021-23. The purpose of the workshop was to make budding managers aware of the importance of choosing the right specialisation for improving placement chances. Students usually choose specialisations that have more jobs in the market and give more money in comparison to other specializations. While doing so, most of them ignore their capabilities or their area of interest. For example, a student who is interested in HR opts for marketing for a few reasons, like the number of jobs is greater in marketing than in HR or more marketing or sales profiles are offered in campus placements than in HR. After two or three months of joining the profile, which was joined just because of earning more money, the student starts losing interest and finally finds it a burden and leaves the job. This happens as a result of choosing a specialisation that is not suitable for you. To avoid the students of IMS making this mistake, a workshop on the same was organized. Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, inspired the students as she shared that the level of success is dependent on an individual and how they contribute to their future on a daily basis. The area chairpersons of HR, Marketing, and Finance discussed critical information regarding skill sets, various job profiles, and other relevant dimensions. The corporate resource centre of IMS Ghaziabad discussed the feedback given by the recruiters, and students were given suggestions as per their strengths and weaknesses. The workshop enabled the participants and students to make the right decision, keeping in mind the specializations.
"Unlocking Your Potential"
This workshop was organised on April 25th, 2022. The expert was Ms. Vasala Agarwal, a Personal Growth Coach, Observer, Speaker, Writer and Motivator. The workshop was more based on analysing and assessing oneself regarding their talent and improving the same day by day. Sometimes students underestimate themselves, and sometimes they are overconfident. Both these states are not right for any student or individual. Maintaining a balance is necessary for personal and professional growth. The Director of the institution, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, shared that Ms. Vatsala has been associated with IMS Ghaziabad for a
long time. She has also prepared personal and professional skills programs. The director also added that these types of workshops and sessions are life-changing and students should not miss a single opportunity to attend these types of sessions.
Yes, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) is recognised for its strong placement track record. The institution holds a prestigious rank of '3' in North India according to the Times B-school survey of 2021, underscoring its reputation as a leading business school. IMS Ghaziabad is particularly well-regarded for its placements, with an average package ranging between 8 to 10 Lacs and the highest annual salary offered to students reaching an impressive 20 lakhs. These figures reflect the institution's commitment to providing students with excellent career opportunities and make it a favorable choice for those seeking a promising start to their professional journey.
Various activities were incorporated as part of this workshop. The self-awareness activity was the most interesting one out of all the tasks. Ms. Vatsala very well discussed the term potential and answered all the queries of the student. She motivated them to hone their potential. She taught the techniques to recognise the potential and remove the weaknesses.
She also discussed how the mind works and can be controlled by any kind of deviation. Overall, she concluded that relationships with others are important, but having a relationship with ourselves is more important.
Pariksha Pe Charcha
This was the third most important workshop conducted by IMS Ghaziabad. Though the workshop was conducted almost one and a half years ago, it is worth discussing as it is significant for every student. It was related to different strategies to excel in exams. Different study habits were also discussed in the workshop. The session was conducted by a psychological counselor. Students discussed various problems they face during examinations and were inquisitive about the solution. The session focused on the importance of time management and prioritising things as per their importance in life.
A workshop on life skills
This workshop was conducted on July 28, 2022. The basic theme of the workshop was "Reestablishing life goals through self-motivation. It was organised for PGDM batch 2022–24. The workshop was led by two well-known experts: Dr. Priya Kaul, Spiritual Life Coach and Motivational Speaker, and Jeetendra Vishwakarma, Motivational Speaker and Lifestyle Coach. The workshop was all about managing stress, not only in the workplace but also in personal life. The workshop's main goals were to instil positive energy in the students and to teach them the art of problem-solving in difficult situations.
