Mystory@Harsh Kedia: How I chose my course and college
Since childhood, my dream has been to be a successful businessman and to achieve this, I opted for Commerce subjects in class IX. Economics and Accounts were my favourite subjects at that time and I scored really good marks in those subjects. So, without any doubt, I chose Commerce again in Class XI-XII.
I want to do MBA and for that I decided to either pursue BCom or BBA in my graduation. But I decided to go for BBA because I feel it has more value than BCom. I wanted to do BBA from St. Xavier’s College or JD Birla but after scoring only 80% in my ISC, I thought that I won’t get admission in both the colleges. I started looking for other colleges and I went to a career fair where I came to know about ILEAD (Institute of Leadership Entrepreneurship and Development). I was really impressed by the infrastructure and the environment of ILEAD and that was the main reason I chose ILEAD for my under graduation and today, I realise that it was one of the best decisions of my life.
How I cracked college admission
To get admission in ILEAD, I was asked to fill an online form and after that I was told to start preparing for the entrance exam IMAT. The syllabus for IMAT mainly covered the basics of English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics. I solved few sample question papers online and studied online for the same. After the IMAT exam, I sat for a group discussion (GD) round with seven more people where we were given a topic and we had to speak either for or against the topic. At last, I had a 10-min long personal interview.
How I made the most of my college years
Most of my time is spent in the classrooms because if you are not present in class then you aren’t getting the attendance for that class. Apart from the classroom, I spent most of the time in the canteen which is the best place to spend time with friends and the most important is the sports arena which is in our new campus where we play Football, Cricket, Pool, Table Tennis, etc.
The college continuously provides an array of extra-curricular opportunities to the students through seminars and events. The college has given me many opportunities which have really helped me gain knowledge and experience to develop my personality. Because of my college, I have done internships with some event management companies which has given me a lot of experience in the field. The college also gave me a free opportunity to do a 3-month long Digital Marketing course which has helped me a lot. I even got an internship opportunity for Digital Marketing. Thanks to ILEAD, which has completely changed my life in only a year and a half of my course and still a long way to go.
