10 Key Preparation tips for HPBOSE 12th Chemistry Examination

Chemistry is one of the important subjects for Science stream. The students should follow key tips to secure a high score in board examination. Some of the useful preparation tips for HPBOSE 12th Chemistry examination are given below:

  1. Know the exam and question pattern: Complete knowledge of the exam pattern is essential for every student appearing for the Class 12 board examination. There are one-mark, two-mark, three –mark and four-mark questions in HPBOSE Class 12 Chemistry examination. One-mark questions are to be answered in a word or line, two-mark questions in about 30 words, three-mark questions in about 40 words and four-mark questions in about 50 words. The answers should be crisp and short as there are no long answer type questions
  2. Repeated revision: The students must revise all the topics covered regularly. Regular revision helps students in remembering the formulae and helps in covering all the topics.
  3. Practise sample papers: Once all the topics are covered, students should start practising the sample papers and previous year question papers. Make sure that these papers are completed within the time allotted for each paper. This will help in self-analysing the speed of writing and identifying the areas of improvement.
  4. Practise solving numerical problems: After learning the formulae and equations thoroughly and understanding the concepts clearly, then students should focus on solving numerical problems daily. Start with the problems that are given at the end of the chapter and then proceed to solve problems in the HPBOSE 12th previous years’ question papers. Daily practice will improve the speed and accuracy of answering numerical questions.
  5. Note down important points: While practising previous years’ question papers, students can identify questions that are repeatedly asked in board examination over the years. Make short notes that will help in quick revision without going through the entire textbook.
  6. Inorganic Chemistry preparation tips: Many students often consider Inorganic Chemistry to be a difficult topic. Start with memorizing the periodic table as this will help in understanding the properties of p-Block, f-Block, and d-Block elements in a better and easier way.
  7. Physical Chemistry preparation tips: In this section of Chemistry, most questions are numerical, hence, students need to understand the concept, apply the correct formula, and solve problems on a regular basis.
  8. Organic Chemistry preparation tips: Prepare mental maps to learn and remember various reagents and their reactions. The important thing is to focus on understanding the concepts while learning chapters of Organic Chemistry.
  9. Reference books: Refer to HPBOSE textbooks as these books are designed by a panel of experts. To understand the concepts better, refer to guide books such as Bahadur book for Physical Chemistry, Solomons for Organic Chemistry, and OP Tandon for Inorganic Chemistry. The students can also refer to the last ten years’ solved papers from Oswal Publications and Gurukul Publications.
  10. Other tips:
  • Take short breaks. This will help in reducing stress.
  • Eat healthy food: Avoid oily food and high-calorie food during the examination
  • Prepare a schedule and stick to it
