Take a crash course in facility management
The role of a facility manager is a strategic management task which goes beyond performing services in a building such as housekeeping. The task requires supporting the company with infrastructure and services in an optimal way. To meet the growing demands of the services sector, Chartered Facility Management Institute (CFMI) is coming soon to train facility managers.
This Indo-Austrian initiative is backed by Austria-based Vienna University of Technology in collaboration with Facility Management (FM) Zone, Real Estate User Group (REUG) and Global Initiative for Restructuring Environment & Management (GIREM). CFMI will offer international certification program to educate professional facility managers, in accordance with the demand of the companies.
Designed for professionals and executives who are working in various dimensions of services sector in facility management, the 86-hour crash course would be conducted on weekends for seven weeks. Eventually, aspirants looking for a career in this domain can also look forward to professional training. The programme fee for the international certificate programme is Rs 42,500 per programme.
Facility management sector is a $15-billion industry in India, growing at an annual rate of about 20% and is expected to reach $40 billion by 2020 as a result of urbanisation and growth of the knowledge industry, hospitality, healthcare, malls, security, etc.
Training for the first batch will begin from December with 35 professionals. Depending on the demand, the number of batches would be increased beginning with Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and the National Capital Region (NCR).
