UGC derecognises SHUATS Distance Learning Programmes for 4 years
University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a notice informing that it has debarred Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHUATS) from offering distance education programmes from the academic session 2016-17 to 2019-20.
As per the notice, UGC has debarred SHUATS from admitting students in any of the distance learning programmes for the debarred period, that is, 2016-17 to 2019-20. Further, SHUATS has been informed that it cannot initiate admission process from the academic session 2016-2017 onwards without prior approval from UGC.

UGC in its notice informs that the reason behind this step is that: “The Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS), Allahabad has continuously violated the norms/guidelines/directives and UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016 framed by UGC particularly on adherence of territorial jurisdiction policy”.
