FIIB Launches FIIBX, a New Capability-Based Framework for Management Education
The Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) has unveiled FIIBX, a new institutional framework aimed at preparing management graduates for a job market that's being reshaped by AI faster than most curricula can keep up with. The framework is the product of eight months of work, during which FIIB spoke with students, alumni, recruiters, faculty, and industry leaders to figure out what graduates actually need going forward. The result is a fairly significant shift away from the usual subject-by-subject teaching model, toward something built around capabilities, hands-on learning, and proof that students can actually do the job they're being trained for.
Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) unveiled FIIBX at a campus event that also featured Raghav Gupta, Head of Education for India and APAC at OpenAI.
FIIBX organizes learning around six career pathways: Consulting & Strategy, Marketing & Growth, Finance & FinTech, Operations & Analytics, People & Organization, and Founders & Venture, broken down further into ten career tracks tied to specific roles and ambitions. No matter which pathway a student picks, though, they move through the same underlying capability system: Foundation, Connection, Analysis & Intelligence, and Judgement & Impact.
"Business education is entering a period of significant transformation," said Dr. Radhika Shrivastava, President of FIIB. "As technology changes the nature of work, institutions must think differently about what students need to succeed. FIIBX aims to build capabilities that remain valuable even as industries, technologies, and careers keep on evolving."
A big piece of how this plays out in practice is ActionWorks, FIIB's experiential learning setup that brings together industry projects, simulations, capability bootcamps, immersions, consulting assignments, and AI-driven learning experiences. Students don't just go through this; they're expected to show what they've learned through EvidenceWorks, a structured way of assessing things like applied problem-solving, strategic decision-making, innovation, leadership under pressure, and exposure to real-world situations.
Running alongside all of this are three things FIIB calls institution-wide multipliers
- AI Readiness, which is about helping students actually apply and lead with AI rather than just being aware of it
- Network Advantage, which connects them to industry, alumni, and international networks
- Responsible Mindset, meant to keep ethics and sustainable impact part of the conversation throughout.
FIIB says the goal is to set students up not just for their first job out of the programme, but for a career that can absorb whatever changes come next.
"The future cannot be predicted," Dr. Shrivastava added. "But students can develop the capabilities needed to navigate it. That is the central idea behind FIIBX."
FIIBX will roll out across FIIB's management programmes starting this academic year. More details are available at fiib.edu.in/fiibx.
