MBA Success Stories: From B-Schools to Boardrooms — Shubhi Verma's Journey Back to the Classroom

Shubhi Verma's journey into the realm of business began in a place where most people would least expect, the science lab. After completing graduation, there was a void inside her. She used to like learning, and wanted to learn more about how things work, where the money flows and how decisions are made. This inspired the idea of pursuing an MBA.
Shubhi Verma's journey into the realm of business began in a place where most people would least expect, the science lab. In the 11th and 12th grades, she studied Science, and later completed her B.Sc. Honours in Microbiology. Her time was spent with microscopes, reports, experiments, and formulas. This is where she was taught the value of discipline, concentration, and organised thinking. She scored a 7.7 CGPA, which was okay, but she knew that she was capable of more.

After completing graduation, there was a void inside her. She used to like learning, and wanted to learn more about how things work, where the money flows and how decisions are made. This inspired the idea of pursuing an MBA.

In the year 2024, she joined the Jaypee Institute of Technology and is scheduled to pass out in the year 2026. Since she had a background in science, it was quite difficult to switch to the field of management. Everything – finance, marketing, presentation, case analysis, teamwork- was new.

During the MBA course, she realised something very important about herself– that her true interest is in finance. Jaypee Institute of Technology was tremendous in helping with this change. The style of teaching the subjects, assignments, presentations, and case studies discussions encouraged her to perform better each day. The increase in CGPA from 7.7 in graduation to 9 after completing the MBA was not an accident. It happened because of all the things she was learning, which was made possible by the atmosphere provided by this institution.

One of the areas where the change was visible was with confidence and communication. Initially, she used to speak less and hesitate when communicating with people. However, through constant presentation and class activities, she could learn to put her thoughts across effectively to the class. Subjects like organisational behaviour and leadership skills for managers helped to grasp the way people interact with each other at the workplace, and also the way leaders think.

These areas of study not only made her a better student, but they also made her more prepared for the industry, and she was able to develop characteristics like:-
  • Discipline: coming from a science background, she was used to following routines and meeting deadlines. This helped her stay consistent in her study.
  • Curiosity: she always wanted to understand why something works the way it does. It helped her to enjoy finance and go deeper into subjects.
  • Hard work:  She has never stopped trying to improve, be it in academics, presentations, or communication.
Jaypee Institute of Technology gave her the right platform to use these qualities. It was the faculty support, structured learning, and practical exposure that helped shape her into a confident, focused individual. Today, she pictures herself not only as a graduate in science but also as a student who knows the commercial aspects of the business world and is set to start their professional life.

Her journey from science to finance by studying subjects like corporate finance, financial modelling, security and portfolio analysis has taught her that it is okay to change paths when you find that "it" thing that connects personally. Sometimes, people don't discover their passion at the beginning; they discover it while they're moving forward. To Shubhi, finance is not just a subject; it is the field that gave direction to her career and confidence to her dreams. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
