GIBS Business School, situated in the heart of Bengaluru's expertise hub, evidences why it is adjudged one of the most innovative B-Schools in India, time and again. GIBS, in collaboration with the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Karnataka Chapter, held GIBS HR Conclave 2025 on November 8, 2025 at GIBS Global Campus, Bannerghatta Road.

Every year, the Conclave is centred around one particular theme. This year, the GIBS HR Conclave was focused on the theme, 'The New HR Agenda: Unlocking Possibility Beyond Process'. This theme sought to redefine and understand the impact of artificial intelligence and HR empathy and leadership for the sustainable success of the organization in the new business environment.

Participants, businessmen and women and students, were given the conference kits and had their pictures taken. Everyone in attendance, sent for the new HR world, was enthusiastic to share innovative ideas with their peers.

Opening the Doors to New Possibilities

The ceremony opened with the lighting of the lamp, signifying the start of the conference as a journey to enlightenment. This was followed by a welcome dance. All the students of GIBS coordinated their movements to symbolise unity, and the two students danced in the centre to represent growth.

The welcome address was presented by Ms. Nancy Johnson, Head of Corporate and Alumni Relations at GIBS. She illustrated how valuable such collaborations between industry and academia are in bridging the gap between learning and leadership. She also spoke on how the HR Conclave fits GIBS’s constant aim of helping professionals who are future ready, incorporating the technical, the emotional, and the ethical.

Empowering Through Education: The GIBS Philosophy

In the subsequent introduction speech Dr. Pallavi Vyas, Professor & Dean at GIBS, gave, she was commending GIBS for the first time in her term for the well-rounded, all faculties of management education philosophy at GIBS. In the address, she pointed out all the practical learning being done by the students as part of the IRE School and the Finishing School (CPMP – Certificate in Personal Mastery Program).

“Education at GIBS,” she said, “is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about building leaders.”

Chief Guest Address: The Human Side of Transformation

The Chief Guest was Mr. Nagabhushan, Head – IR, Legal & Compliance at SEG Automotive India Pvt Ltd and Mentor at NIPM. He gave a very compelling speech on the transformation of the HR function in the organizations.

He indicated how the contemporary HR professional should move “beyond process” — becoming a driver of purpose, performance, and people empowerment. “The value of an organization is not in its structures, but in its people,” he stated, encouraging students to acquire the analytical and the emotional.

His address set the tone for a day on the theme of purposeful leadership and the humanization of corporate ecosystems.

Keynote by Mr. Abhishek Ranjan: ESG and Purpose-Driven Leadership

The following keynote was by Joint Secretary – UNGC India; and Advisor – FKCCI.

In an emphatic address, Mr. Ranjan explained how Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks affect the HR field, describing the influence the value systems entail and how businesses should make social value systems, ethics and inclusion cornerstones.

He stated, "Purpose is the new productivity, and people are the drivers of that purpose."

This helped young HR professionals envisage the creation of purposeful and profitable businesses.

The speech highlighted GIBS view on the need for education to focus on the promotion of ethical leadership and social citizenship.

Industry Perspective: The Future of Talent

After a great cultural performance by GIBS students, Vishal Chinchure, EY's Talent Acquisition Leader, gave the main speech.

He spoke about the dimensions of talent acquisition in the digital world and how recruitment is being transformed by automation, predictive analytics, and digital and social media. However, he affirmed that the ‘human factor’ is the most important.

“Automation will increase efficiency, but it will never take the place of empathy,” Mr. Chinchure said. He advised to the students to embrace a culture of constant learning, adapt to the new hybrid work situation to be more productive, and achieve personal and organisational synergy.

Panel Discussion: Reimagining HR for Industry 5.0

The concluding panel discussion on “Reimagining HR for Industry 5.0” hosted by Mr. Mahesh Narayan (Global Technology Consulting Firm), Dr. Ranjith T P (Volvo Group India), Dr. N. Nagamani Nagaraja (National Education Foundation), and Ms. Shilpa Naik (Shell Infotech – Deloitte) was one of the most insightful sessions of the conclave.

The distinguished panel of experts spoke about the transformation of HR from a function of processes to one that is driven by purpose. The main points of the discussion were how to combine empathy and technology, how Responsible AI is becoming more important in managing people, and how important it is to have a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and ethical leadership.

The panel said that Industry 5.0 is all about "humanizing" technology, which means letting people work with machines. They said that the future HR leaders will have to combine data intelligence with emotional intelligence to help build meaningful workplaces.

The active Q&A session with students emphasized a crucial lesson:

“In the emerging era, HR will not be about people management; it will be about the release of people’s potential through purpose and innovation.”

Guest Talk: Global Perspective from Volvo

Mr. Arvind Warrior from Volvo delivered a guest talk and continued the dialogue by providing a global perspective on managing the workforce. He explained complications in cross-cultural operations and how global businesses standardize and practice inclusivity.

“Lead with clarity, care, and cultural understanding” was his closing message and it beautifully captured the ethos of the event.

Concluding Thoughts: A Vision for Tomorrow

In the closing note, Mr. Ritesh Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director of The GIBS Group, expressed his appreciation to all the speakers, panelists and partners for the success of the conclave and for making it a remarkable event.

He illustrated the importance GIBS places on innovation and the development of students and remarked how such events aid the learning experience by bridging the gap between theory and practice. “We don’t just prepare students for jobs — we prepare them for life,” he remarked.

Certificates and mementos were handed out as the evening progressed and the participants were thanked. Group pictures were taken to celebrate the participants pride and joy.
