Admission Process for Tier 1 DU Colleges

Here is how you can get admission in a Tier 1 DU college, in simple steps:

  • Give the CUET exam. This exam is held by NTA. You must take CUET to apply to any DU college.

  • Register on the DU website. After your CUET result comes, make an account on official DU admission website.

  • Choose your course and college. Pick the courses and colleges you want, in the order you like them most.

  • Wait for the seat list. DU will give you a seat based on your CUET marks and your choices.

  • Accept the seat and pay the fee. If you get your college, accept the seat and pay the fee on time.

  • Show your documents. Upload your marksheets, ID proof, and other papers to confirm your admission.

  • Check spot rounds if needed. If seats are still empty after the first rounds, DU opens spot rounds so you can apply again.

Check the college predictor for UG and PG courses.

How to Choose the Right Tier 1 College

Since all Tier 1 DU colleges are good, the right choice depends on your own goals, not just the "tier" label. Here are some simple points to think about:

  • Pick a college based on your subject. If you like Commerce or Economics, SRCC, Hindu College, and Ramjas are good choices. If you like Science, Hindu College, Miranda House, and Kirori Mal College have good science departments.

  • Check if it's a women's college. LSR and Miranda House are for women only. Some students like this kind of college for its environment.

  • Don't just look at the overall rank. A college's rank for one subject can be different from its overall NIRF rank. So also check how good the college is for your specific subject and its teachers.

  • Check the CUET cutoff for your exact course. Cutoffs are different for each course, even in the same college. So look at the cutoff for the course you want, not just the college's name.

  • Think about location and hostel. North Campus and South Campus colleges are in different areas, with different hostels and transport. This can matter if you are coming from another city.
