B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2024
3.8
Good infrastructure and decent placements .
Placements: So, I am from the 2024 passing out batch mechanical engineering. The placement from past few years have been good. This year a PSU company BEL also visited. They offered a package of 11.5 LPA, so this was the highest package offered this year. As it is an electronics related company so only 2 students were selected from our branch. Few students were also placed in an consulting firm. Around 20-30 % of students were placed in our branch.
Infrastructure: There are separate departments for various disciplines offered by the institute. The infrastructure is decent. There are labs in each department but most of the equipments are not in a working condition. There is a central library for issuing course related books. The hostels are not in a good condition and the food offered in the mess is also of average quality. There are two huge playgrounds for sports activities. As the regional hospital is near, so no problem in medical facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They are helpful in various aspects. The course curriculum is not upto mark, it mainly focuses on the theoretical aspect and less on practical one. There is no introduction to the cutting edge technologies used in industries. The semester exams are not very difficult, it's easy to score 65%+.

College having a good infrastructure .
Placements: 30% of students were placed in our course. The average package is 3 Lacs. There are limited company which are visit in our college. Almost 60% of student got internship from our course in tata, Bajaj etc. Placements not well for our course in our college because it is situated in rural area.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our college is good and library and labs, seminar halls are provided for us. Hostel infrastructure is good but not well maintained. Food quality is just okay in the mess and medical facility is available because hostel is placed in our campus.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful, knowledgeable and well qualified. No they doesn't make the student industry ready. Semester exam are difficult because there is no extra data book table provided for our course related to subject so it is hardto scored in that particular subject.

Faculty members are good in our college.
Placements: Placements provided in our college are not good. Few students get placed rarely and depend on students to get placements outside the campus. Placements should be improved. Recruiting company visiting our college is Godrej. There aren't many recruiting companies for mechanical engineering.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college should be improved. Wi-Fi is not provided to students. Hostels need renovation. Classrooms are good. The quality of food served in the hostel mess is not satisfying. Hostel rooms are old and need renovation. Medical facilities are satisfying as it has a government hospital but it is not good for emergencies.
Faculty: Teachers in the mechanical department are good, helpful, and well-qualified. Their teaching is good. The course curriculum is relevant and it is according to the current industrial expectations. Our college doesn't focus more on practical knowledge. Semester exams are fairly difficult. The pass percentage is good.
Other: Our college should improve workshops, placement opportunities, and lab equipment.

I'm dissatisfied with bad infrastructure and less placements.
Placements: Placements provided in our college are very less. The average salary package offered is 3 LPA to 4 LPA. Most of the students try off-campus placements. Around 3 to 4 companies visit our college to offer placements. Top recruiting companies are Godrej and Wipro. Less students get internships in our college.
Infrastructure: Hostel doesn't have Wi-Fi or a proper water supply. The quality of food served in the hostel is average. Facilities provided in our department are average and are not properly maintained. Labs should be well-maintained. Library should include more books for competitive exams. Many grounds are available for sports but are not properly maintained.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are knowledgeable and well-qualified. Their teaching quality is good. If students study properly and do some internships, they will be industry ready. Semester exams are averagely difficult. The course curriculum is relevant but it doesn't make students industry ready.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest. Our college should provide more practical knowledge. It organises less events.

Good faculty but the placements are not that good, infrastructure is good.
Placements: In our course most of the students appeared for GATE examination, come with very good GATE score, currently they all are in good IITs NITs and some are in PSU. As the placements are not good but the environment for students to study is very good.
Infrastructure: Hostel rooms are good but in hostel there is lack of water and mess food is average. Also Wi-Fi is not working in most of the hostels. For water, tanks are provided and from there students have to carry the water to their rooms for doing necessary activities.
Faculty: Teachers are good, course is the old one not updated. In semester examination paper are similar to what teachers teach in classes. 15 marks 2 class tests are conducted in which most of the syllabus is completed. Also there are some marks for attendance and assignments.

The college is not recommended.
Placements: The placements for mechanical engineering in this college are minimum. There are no placement opportunities for branches other than CSE. Few companies have visited the college in the past year, but they do not come every year. Internships are to be done by the students themselves.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi in the hostel. Water supply is not good. You have to wait for the water tanker to deliver water. We use the same water for drinking and washing clothes. Food quality is not good. There is no proper equipment in labs, and there are no lab technicians in workshops. The library is not good. Hygiene is not good. The classrooms are full of dust, and the hostels are also dirty.
Faculty: The faculty in mechanical engineering are highly qualified from IITs and NITs. The teaching quality is fine, and the syllabus is also decent. But it provides no actual practical knowledge that is necessary for jobs in industries. Semester exams are quite tough, and the pass percentage is 60%.

It is a good campus but still needs some improvement.
Placements: A maximum number of students get placed. The average package offered is 3-5 lakhs per annum in mechanical engineering. Godrej is the highest recruiting company. Industrial training is compulsory in 3rd year for every student. Companies like Godrej, Wipro, Infosys, 3D Digital Solutions and many others come for internships.
Infrastructure: There is no water supply, and we have to wait for the water tanker to deliver water. We get the same water for drinking and washing clothes. The food quality is average. The labs have the proper equipment, but no lab technicians are available in workshops. A good library is available. Proper hygiene is maintained on campus. The classrooms are clean, but hostels are dirty.
Faculty: The faculty in mechanical engineering are highly qualified from IITs and NITs. The teaching quality is good, and the syllabus is decent. They provide actual practical knowledge that is necessary for jobs in industries. Semester exams are quite tough, and the pass percentage is 60%.

Review of Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology.
Placements: 70% of students got placed among those who are willing to get placed. The average package offered is 5 LPA from top MNCs and automobile manufacturers like Godrej, Swaraj, TCS, Tata, Bajaj Auto etc. They got placed in different sectors like quality, production, designing etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are not available everywhere, and the infrastructure related to labs, classrooms and library are good. Hostel facilities are not much good. There are water problems, but the rooms are good. Mess and canteen are above-average. Mess food is good, and chefs are localites who make food in a normal home-based style.
Faculty: The mechanical department faculty are good, and all the teachers are IIT graduates and PhD holders. In all semesters, skill development subjects are added to enhance our skills. But no industry visits are organised to enhance industry-related exposure. The difficulty level of exams is good because it is an autonomous college, and the evaluation is done in our college only. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: Mechanical engineering has a vast scope but requires a lot of hard work and industry-related skills. But the best thing about this course is our love towards machines and design of things. There is no industrial visit and very minimal practicals related to the course, so this can be improved. Events, fests, campus crowd, connectivity, campus surroundings, and extracurricular activities are good. Scholarships are provided for SC and ST students, general category and EBC students, and PWD (person with disability) students as well.
