GATE Qualifying Marks

The GATE 2026 exam qualifying cutoff is expected to be around 28-37 for the general category, 26 -28.3 for OBC/EWS and 27-31 for SC/ST category. However, this can vary for all 30 subjects. The official GATE passing mark (subject-wise) will be made available along with GATE result 2026

GATE qualifying mark 2026 is the minimum score that is required to score to pass the exam, and be eligible for GATE counselling. The cutoff marks will vary for each category. This year, IIT Guwahati is conducting GATE 2026, and branch-wise GATE exam dates have been announced.  Students are advised to download their GATE hall ticket 2026 and appear for the test on the scheduled date and time.

GATE Exam Cutoff: What is Passing Marks in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

The GATE passing mark is the minimum mark that a candidate must obtain to be eligible for the admission process. IIT Guwahati will announce GATE 2026 exam qualifying mark on its official website - gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Check important details regarding GATE eligibility marks -

  • Only candidates who meet the minimum GATE qualifying 2026 marks will be eligible for further admission process. Students scoring below the cutoff will be marked as not qualified, irrespective of how close they are to the passing mark.
  • The GATE exam cutoff are different for all 30 subjects. Students must note that the cutoff varies depending on the difficulty level, number of candidate appeared, and past cutoff factors.
  • The GATE passing marks will be released for three category types - General, OBC-NCL/EWS, and SC/ST/PwD. The cutoff marks for general category will be high compared to other two categories.

It is the final opening and closing ranks score fixed by the participating institutes to select candidates.

How to check GATE Qualifying Marks 2026?

Candidates can check GATE qualification marks on official website. No credentials will be required to access the GATE 2026 elgibility marks. The authorities will activate the link on its homepage, and will be available for each subject along with number of candidates registered and appeared for the GATE paper. 

GATE 2026 scorecard will be available for free download from March 27 to May 31. Later, it will be available till December 31, by paying a fee of INR 500 till December 31, 2026. Candidates can download it at GATE candidate login of GOAPS portal. Candidates who have qualified, will be eligible to download their GATE result scorecard 2026. The scorecard is valid for three years.

Yes, GATE is a mandatory entrance exam for CGC Landran M.Tech admissions. The selection of candidates for the M.Tech course is done during the PTU counseling. During the PTU counseling round, CGC Landran will look at the GATE score obtained by a candidate to decide their admission.

No, the GATE registrations have been closed for CGC Landran M.Tech admissions at this point. The GATE registrations are usually scheduled from the month of August till October of the prior year.

The GATE itself is conducted in the month of February of the academic year.

Scoring 700 marks in GATE is considered great. It can roughly estimate around 60 to 70 marks in GATE out of 100. With 700 marks, students have high chances to get admission to IITs, NITs, and for PSUs even.
