English department is great.

Placements: I am not really aware of the placements at the moment. The placement committee is run solely by the students and there is no teacher to monitor. But what I do know is that the students fetch for internships on their own and through that they enter into jobs.

Infrastructure: I went to city college, one of the best colleges for arts in centre Kolkata. Anti-ragging policies are strictly adhered to and students are friendly irrespective of their ranks and seniority. The college ensures hygiene and sanitation. The rooms could have been more spacious and a little better equipped with facilities like smart boards unlike the ordinary black boards in the majority of classes. Wi-Fi could have been better. We have a huge common room, a gym, a hygiene canteen with yummy dishes in a cheap rate.

Faculty: I have studied B.A. (hons) in English a literature subject which has built my character and my body language. Quality of teaching is excellent, faculty members are highly knowledgeable and supporting, yes I can say curriculum is updated and includes all the recent developments but still needs advanced technology based programming skills. Yes it has made me job-ready in various fields - Teaching, Translator, Officer in national language.

Other: Campus life is also good and cool over here. You'll find friendly and helpful people over here. This college will give you all the fun and memories which would be with you for lifetime. This college will help you in building your self confidence and self belief as you are the only person who can help you in every situation. You will have to give your 100% in self studies to achieve what you want in your life.

It is one of the best colleges for arts in centre Kolkata.

Other: The campus life is good and cool over here. You'll find friendly and helpful people. This college will give you all the fun and memories which would be with you for a lifetime. This college will help you in building your self-confidence and self-belief as you are the only person who can help you in every situation. You'll have to give your 100% in self-studies to achieve what you want in your life. This fee is costly for the middle-class family. There is a fee hike of 5-10% every year, and you need to pay the fee semester-wise. Although you can get a scholarship, even that is not for sure and not an adequate amount. But the facilities provided by the campus are good. You can have access to the library in offline mode, but for that, you have to pay a nominal charge to make a library card.

City College is located on Amherst Street in North Kolkata.

Placements: My college does not offer any internships or campus placements for my course, English honors, but there are career counseling sessions. I am not sure what packages are offered. However, after the course is completely completed, our faculty uploads various placement opportunities to the WhatsApp group.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are nice and big. The library is very nice, although there is Wi-Fi, it is limited to college staff only. There is a hostel at the back of the college, although it is now abandoned. The interior of our college is undergoing renovation, and a lot of painting is being done.

Faculty: Each faculty member of our college was really helpful and knowledgeable. The quality of their teaching was also very good. They explained everything to the students very clearly and beautifully. Most students pass here. The pressure of studying was a bit high, you had to write a lot and memorize a lot of reading. The semester exams were a bit difficult but that's okay.

Other: In all the time I have been studying at this college. I have not seen anyone being ragged or heard any such news. In this regard, I really like the environment here.

City college: strong placements. Excellent faculty and comprehensive support .

Placements: I graduated from city college with an English honours degree in the batch of 2021. the colleges placement cell is quite supportive and has established connections with various industries, which significantly benefits students from humanities streams. Including English honours. Approximately 60% from our English honours batch were placed while the placement rate is lower compared to technical courses, it is still commendable given the diverse career path humanities students often pursue. Many students also opted for higher studies or persued career in writing.

Infrastructure: Offer a hostel, the time I passed it was close, but as per recent update, its again opening, and will provide accommodation to students who are coming to study from different places. The hostel is conveniently within or near the college. Making it easy for students for avail classes in ease.

Faculty: Highly qualified faculty with advanced degrees from prestigious institutions. Extensive teaching and industry experience in various academic discipline. Combination of traditional lectures, interactive discussions, case studies and practical sessions .
