Q:   Is Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia a good option?

A:

Good things about the University based on your personal experience

One of the most prominent legal schools in the country is Jamia University's Faculty of Law. As a result of the faculty's consistent improvement in national rankings, the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework placed it as the seventh-best legal institute in the country in 2021. Numerous rankings have regularly ranked Jamia institution as the best central institution in India. In December of previous year, the University obtained an A+ rating with a 3.61 NAAC score. A student here would nearly be considered fortunate. One of its main benefits is its location, which enables students to reside in the center of Delhi and be close to some of the most prestigious courts in the nation.

Living in Delhi gives law students the opportunity to intern at some of the most prominent legal companies and attorneys in the nation, which makes living there nothing less than a dream for many of them.
The interaction between students from different faculty members enhances the intellectual growth of law students and is another advantage of studying law at Jamia.
In my perspective, this is the one advantage Jamia has over other National Law Universities.
Other than that, our faculty is outstanding and has years of experience in the legal field.
Also in good standing is the administration. In addition, we have a committed group of non-teaching staff members that support us as needed.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

One of the drawbacks that I have observed is the decrease in the number of online events that the faculty hosts.

Jamia ranked 3rd overall and 7th in law by NIRF in 2022.
Placements: Placement records of the law faculty are not very promising. Only a handful of students get placed in law firms, companies, and government organisations. The curriculum is designed in such a way that most of the students are inclined toward the judiciary and other civil services exams.
Infrastructure: The faculty of law does not have a separate building. Management and Law courses run on the same premises. The ground floor and first floor are dedicated to the Management department and the second and onwards floor is dedicated to law courses. Classrooms are very spacious but most of them do not have ACs due to which summers become troublesome. Wi-Fi is available for students to access various legal databases. The library is on the second floor with all types of law books and resources required by the students. The library is very spacious. I'm not availing hostel facilities but what I have heard from hostlers I can say hostels are good and very economical. The quality of food is also good. The campus is filled with big and mini canteens running throughout the day. Sports facilities are known to everyone. All types of indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available.
Faculty: Jamia being a Central University has highly qualified professors. Some of them are prestigious award holders, professors are regularly invited, debates, etc. As already mentioned, the law curriculum is designed in such a way that most of the students get inclined towards the judiciary and other civil services exams. But slowly corporate culture is growing in Jamia.
Other: Jamia has awesome metro connectivity. Sukhdev vihar and Jamia Millia Islamia are the closest metro stations on the magenta line. Various scholarship schemes for minorities are run by universities. Jamia also runs RCA which is countrywide famous for producing civil servants. Jamia has a vast campus of more than 216 acres in south Delhi which is close to many important locations. Law course has two batches, one is regular and the other one is Self-finance. Faculty and facilities are the same, the only difference is fees.

Our college gives a good quality education and support.
Placements: Currently, I am studying here and will pass out in 2026. It is the best central university for law which gives you a special tag on your resume or career but as of now, there is no placement cell for law. Networking and alumnus will help you in your career so that you can achieve your goal. You can get a job or opportunities easily after passing out.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure is very nice and you would have to give interview and your distance from the capital also plays major role in getting hostel. We have departmental library and a central library with ample number of books, journals, newspapers, etc. We have our e-library portal also. Wi-Fi is also available. Quality of food in hostel is very good and hygienic. We have two canteens near our faculty to talk and enjoy. There is also a dispensary for staff and students.
Faculty: B.A. LL.B. (Hons) is an integrated 5 years course in law. The structure of the syllabus is formulated based on BCI guidelines in a very good manner for the development of law students. Teachers are very helpful and well-qualified. We can ask them any doubts. Faculty of law provides many law courses among them the two famous are B.A. LL.B (Hons.) and LL. M. These courses help students in learning every aspect of law. Once the student passes out from the university, they can easily get many opportunities because of its quality education and central university tag.
Other: I chose this course because I was very much interested in learning about different laws and how the whole government, judiciary, and organisations work in a society. Many competitions or events like debates, moot-court, legal aid clinics, etc. are conducted regularly.

I had a great experience at Jamia.
Placements: Placements of our college are not much good as only some companies visit our college for placements. Even those companies are not good compared to companies which visit other colleges. However, our college has much to teach and also provides good internships for students so that they can learn more and enhance their skills.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very beautiful and fascinating. Jamia premises are huge, so the classrooms are very spacious. Jamia has a separate building for the library, but it doesn't have a hostel facility. However, the cafeteria is very impressive and brilliant. There is also a hospital which provides treatment for students for free of cost, including medicines. There are canteens which provide delicious biryani at a price of Rs. 40.
Faculty: The teaching quality of the teachers in Jamia is perfectly good. There are skilled and knowledgeable teachers who help students and make their understanding better. They are very helpful to students and try to put their better efforts to build and enhance students abilities. The course curriculum is very good, but it is a little bit outdated. So, it needs to be updated according to the 20th century because law students need to learn new laws.
Other: Our college is very beautiful, neat, clean and very student-friendly. In our college, admissions are reserved for Muslim minority girls. The campus crowd is really very friendly, and you can feel very safe here. Law students have law fest, conferences, national as well as international seminars, alumina meet, freshers party and farewell party.
