NLU Lucknow (RMLNLU) - Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is approved by the University Grants Council, RMLNLU is a public university in Lucknow, UP. Established as the Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute in 2005, the institution got its present-day name after it got the 'university' status in 2006. The university holds recognition from the BCI.
RMLNLU offers BA LLB (Hons) integrated programme & LLM degree, approved by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Academic Council of the university. It also extends a regular PhD programme which is of five years. These courses are offered in full-time mode. Candidates looking forward to practising law in India, are required to clear the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) that is conducted by BCI. The eligibility criteria for the BA LLB Hons course at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (NLU Lucknow) are as follows :
- There is no upper age limit for the undergraduate programme in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
- Candidates must have secured 45% marks or its equivalent grade in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination) if they belong to the General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories.
- Candidates must have secured 40% marks or equivalent in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination) if they belong to the SC/ST categories.
- Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April are also eligible to appear in the CLAT examination. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
- The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course.
The admission to the BA LLB Hons course for the academic year 2024 is based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which was conducted on 2 Dec ’23 .

Admission to the LLM programme at RMLNLU are currently closed. Applications are accepted based on the CLAT PG scores. The CLAT PG test was held on December 7, 2025. Candidates seeking admission through the CLAT PG test have to satisfy the eligibility in terms of admission, where candidates must have an undergraduate law degree with at least an aggregate of 50%. Thus, the above-mentioned dates are tentative and as per the official website.
After the CLAT 2025 Revised Result, Round 1 seat allotment has been released by RMLNU Lucknow. Aspirants would have to decide whether they want to accept, revise or withdraw from the seat allotment process before the final date for the new counselling registration round gets over. Those who want an upgrade will be required to pay a confirmation fee to secure their seat at the institution.
The CLAT 2025 admission process, which is completely online, will be concluded after 5 rounds. The process included registration, merit list result and then the seat allotment process according to candidates' preferences.
