B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2026

An honest review of 4 years.
Placements: The percentage of students who got placed always depends on students' capabilities and also on the college and faculty. There were 40%-50% students who were placed in the previous batch. The highest package is 6 LPA-7 LPA and the average is 2.5 LPA-3 LPA. Top recruiting companies are 10 years old, like Byjus but now new startups and companies like Trident and Accenture give the opportunity. In my course, 5 students from my batch got internships at Trident. Top roles offered are software engineer, frontend developer, backend developer, and other major roles.
Infrastructure: There are labs with a normal specs computer where you can run software installed by the institute only. Labs are fully AC-enabled. If you are willing to take engineering courses, then your classes will be college-side, where classrooms are good but not the best. The hostel in which you are shifted in your first year has a good infrastructure, in which the lift is working till you pay the fees. After that, when classes start, the lift will be out of order or only for staff. But after the first year, you will be shifted to the old hostels. There are three girls' hostels that have a normal infrastructure.
Faculty: As is the case for all colleges, most of the teachers are hard-working and well-qualified. Remember I said most, not all. You take a curriculum from any college, it does not make you industry-ready. There is a big difference between college and industry work. Semester exams sometimes get harder. In the first year, 70% of my batch got reappear.

Faculty is supportive, and the campus life is decent
Placements: Eligible students got placed in the 2023-2024 batch, with around 45% of students from my course securing placements; the highest package is about ₹10 LPA, and the average is around ₹4–5 LPA, with companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and some product-based firms like Amazon recruiting, while internships were limited but a few students got opportunities at Microsoft and Trident, and most of us secured roles such as software developer, data analyst, and system engineer, overall, if you work hard, there are good chances to get placed here.
Infrastructure: At Giani Zail Singh College, our department has good classrooms, Wi-Fi, labs, and a library with useful books. The campus is clean and offers all basic facilities. Hostel rooms are adequate, but cleanliness could be improved. Mess food is average, while the canteen offers more variety and is cleaner. There is a small medical center on campus for basic care. Sports facilities like a cricket ground, basketball court, and indoor games are available and well-maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good and focuses on core concepts. The course curriculum is mostly relevant and includes practical learning, although industry exposure can vary by department. It helps build a foundation for jobs or further studies. Exams are not too difficult, and most students pass, with a pass rate of around 70–80%.
Other: I was part of the B.Tech batch at Giani Zail Singh College. I chose this course because I was interested in engineering and practical learning. The course is good, but industry exposure and placements could be improved. Fests, campus life, and extracurricular activities are active and enjoyable.

A good college with good faculty, facilities, and a green campus.
Placements: To get placed, it is necessary to obtain a 7+ CGPA. The highest package during my studies is 12 LPA in the Computer Science field. Mainly, only toppers can get on-campus placements, but you can easily get an off-campus placement if you have ever been part of the university's training and placement cell.
Infrastructure: The mess food is also good in terms of compared to other colleges. But the most important thing is that the new hostels are really good facilitated, with lifts. Even labs and classrooms are also well-facilitated with the latest equipment.
Faculty: I love faculty members as they are really cooperative with students, and exams are really necessary throughout the course, nearly three times in one semester. It is necessary to have your attendance complete as it is slightly strict for attendance throughout the semester. The course fee and accommodation are absolutely fine.

Review of Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: I have seen the placement rate of the college and they are saying it's 3-4 LPA average on the website. But during admission they told 10-15 LPA. And this is very little. Also, they don't guide us about the placement and how to prepare for it to get the maximum package.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very old from the 1950s, and in the name of college, there are only trees and greenery everywhere and less area for classrooms. Wi-Fi is zero here, although they say they have Wi-Fi on boards. The quality of food in the mess is okay, but there are no sports competitions here.
Faculty: The faculty is supportive here, with 10-15 percent of teachers truly knowledgeable. Course curriculum is the same everywhere. Semester exams are moderately difficult. One needs 40 out of 100 in total to get passed internal + external. Minimum 15 /60 in external is needed.
Other: No extracurricular activities, very few inter-batch competitions, and only one fest in a year, which is combined techno, literary, and cultural, and this year this fest also was not organized.

Our college is very good.
Placements: Around 20% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is 8 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA. The average salary package offered is 3 LPA. Many startups visit our college to recruit students. Around 10% of students got internships in Byju's, Infosys, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all the facilities. The hostel facilities are not very good. The food served in the mess is not good. Our college is old. Labs are equipped with air-conditioners. Wi-Fi facility is available in the hostel. A gymnasium is available in our college.
Faculty: Some teachers are good. They are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is up to the mark. They don't make students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate. The pass percentage is good.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in it. The placements should be improved. Many events and fests are held in our college. They organise intercollege competitions. Our college crowd is good.

Review of Giani Zail Singh College, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University.
Placements: About 30-40% of the students got placed. The salary package offered starts from 3 LPA, the maximum salary package offered goes up to 12 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our branch are Infosys, etc. Still, it is good enough, and deserving students can get a salary package of more than 5 LPA easily.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not that good, and the windows of our college are broken. Computers do not work so well, and whenever it rains, rainwater drips from the roof. The toilets of the hostel aren't good enough, and the hostel Wi-Fi is very bad, which causes a lot of problems. While working online, Wi-Fi doesn't work from 10 AM-5 PM.
Faculty: Teachers are very good in their behavior, qualification, and knowledge, and they teach every concept very efficiently. They are very friendly. The course curriculum is much relevant, but the only problem is it is still working with old languages rather than new languages like python. Semester exams are fairly normal, and students who know the concepts can pass them easily. The passing percentage is more than 80%.

It is a very good college to opt for to become successful.
Placements: About 70% of the students get placed with a maximum salary package of 3 LPA - 4 LPA. Companies like Infosys, Amazon, etc. visited the campus for recruitment, They give opportunities to work with popular MNCs. Very interesting opportunities are provided on behalf of your performance.
Infrastructure: Our college has very good infrastructure, and a decent library. Sitting arrangements are awesome. The infrastructure and development of this college are so good. All the rooms, buildings, library, gardens, auditorium, etc., are very good. The college buildings are very beautiful.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very good. The course curriculum is fantastic. Exams are held in a very decent way. Exams, faculty, and curriculum of our course are one of the best colleges of Punjab under Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University.
Other: If you want to become successful, this college will give you opportunities for that. This college also provides you some very beautiful memories.

Placements are not provided, and we cannot trust teachers.
Placements: Around 10% of students got placed, and other students got placed through other colleges or other ways. The highest package offered was 3.50 LPA, the lowest package was 1.2 LPA, and the average package was 2.50 LPA. All students got placed but not with the help of the college. TCS, HCL, etc., companies come here. A job fair is conducted every year by Government of Punjab, but the placements are not good. 3% of students got internships. Web developer, software developer, management, etc., roles are offered.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are not good. Wi-Fi speed is very poor but available in all areas. The classrooms are very old. The library doesn't have new edition books that Manson in MRSPTU syllabus. The quality of the hostel, H5, is mind-blowing. H1 to H4 are very bad hostels and very old. All the hostels provide Wi-Fi facility from 5 pm to 9 am. The Food quality is not good. A canteen is available.
Faculty: The teachers are not helpful and not well-qualified. They are not knowledgeable. The teaching quality is not good, and each topic is taken from Google and YouTube. This college doesn't deliver good lectures like the applied mathematics department.
Other: My batch is of 2021. I chose CSE because of my interest in the software field, but my dream is broken by this college.
