The common reasons for rejection in GIBS admission rounds generally pertain to gaps in eligibility criteria, poor performance in selection stages, or overall mismatch with the needs of the selection process. Many applicants are rejected for not fulfilling the minimum prescribed academic eligibility or failing to submit valid entrance examination scores. Others fail at the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds due to their weak communication skills, lack of clarity regarding career goals, poor subject knowledge, or an unconvincing Statement of Purpose. Sometimes, candidates fail to present an overall strong profile with academic consistency, extracurricular engagement, or relevant experience, which gets them rated poorly against other candidates.

For the PGDM and MBA programs at GIBS Business School, applicants must hold a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in their Bachelor's degree from a university approved by AICTE, UGC, or AIU. Candidates belonging to reserved categories receive a relaxation and can apply with a minimum of 45% marks. Final-year students are also eligible, as long as they submit their final documents before admission is confirmed.Meeting the eligibility criteria in terms of percentage is very important, but GIBS also checks entrance exam scores, academic history, work experience, SOP, and performance in GD and PI rounds, which makes the overall profile an important factor in selection.
