It's not like a “nice to have” — it's built into the program. As a student, I felt it makes a huge difference because you're constantly applying what you learn instead of just studying for exams. We had live projects with companies, internships, case work, and even small consulting-style assignments during the trimester. By the time placements start, you already have real work experience to talk about, which honestly gives confidence. For me, those internships and projects were sometimes more impactful than regular classes because companies give actual feedback and you see how business works in real time. So yeah, it's kind of mandatory but in a good way — it pushes you to be industry-ready instead of just a fresher with theory.

TEDx is one of the big highlights because they bring in people who are doing genuinely interesting things, and listening to them kinda shifts your mindset. Then there are sports clubs — like volleyball, badminton, cricket — and the fun part is that everyone participates, not just players.I personally liked how these things break the routine and help you bond with people across batches. Plus, there are clubs for finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, cultural fests, etc., so you end up exploring different sides of yourself. For me, that's what made GIBS more than just classes and assignments.

At GIBS Business School in Bangalore, no specific cutoffs have been published for the different specialisations like Marketing, Finance and HR. The criteria for getting into GIBS generally relies on your overall PGDM eligibility and the scores from the entrance exams rather than having separate cutoffs for each specialisation. However, here are some general benchmarks that you could look at for reference for PGDM/MBA admissions:Overall Admission Entrance Exam Typical Cutoff Percentile (General Candidates):CAT – approximately 60 percentileMAT – approximately 60-64 percentile (64 percentile as seen in the latest cycle)CMAT – approximately 60 percentileATMA – approximately 60 percentileXAT – approximately 60 percentileThe above figures are based on current reaction to previous admissions; actual cutoffs may change from year to year, because of factors like number of applicants, difficulty of the exams, and available seats. For BBA Programs:BBA admission has no formal entrance cutoff, as admission is based purely based on class 12 (10+2) merit (no formal entry exams), and shortlisted students may be invited to participate in an interview/assessment process.
