Great campus with good learning exposure.

Placements: Government Medical College Kozhikode was the best option for the B.Sc. Optometry course. Around 20 seats were available, and only top students from the LBS rank got admission. Fees were very affordable compared to private institutions. It was run by KUHS University. The course was three years, plus one year of internship. The internship completed in the Ophthalmology department was highly useful for future opportunities. Job opportunities were available in hospitals and the optical field.

Infrastructure: The Ophthalmology department was strong and provided the needed patient exposure. Wi-Fi facilities were not available for students. Classrooms were provided for the theory section. Government hostels were available, although there was a small delay. The mess and food were decent. A playground, gym, and sports training were also available.

Faculty: Faculty members were helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was okay. The syllabus was vast and covered both clinical and optical portions. Practical classes related to the optical field were not much provided. Exams were pretty tough, but they were not impossible to pass. Most of the time, all students get the pass percentage.

Other: The campus was the main highlight. There were many events, programs, and fests to boost extracurricular activities. The e-grants scholarship was provided, so you received all fees back and also pocket money if eligible.

B.Sc. Optometry - A detailed Review.

Placements: After successful completion of the four-year course, you can join any optical company like Lenskart, Essilor, Canon, Nikon, etc. Candidate can pursue their Masters in Optometry. They can join teaching institutes as Tutor Technicians or join any optical clinic as Clinical Optometrist. After the Master's, they can get into Research Oriented fields related to Ophthalmology. Our college provides a compulsory internship of one year which trains students in all clinical areas of ophthalmology like Refraction, OCT, Vision Testing, etc.

Infrastructure: Calicut Medical College's ophthalmology department comprises three units of ophthalmology consisting of One Professor and two assistant professors in each. These faculty members carry out academics for the students. The campus consists of Free Wi-Fi, Lecture Halls, and Practical Clinics. A hostel is available for all students with Rs 7000 as annual rent.

Faculty: Exams are carried out annually and results are published by the Kerala University of Health Sciences on time. The first year has 5 papers, the Second Year consists of 4 papers and the third year has 4 papers. Academics is carried out by Professors and Assistant professors of ophthalmology and Tutor Technician in the college.

Other: The college union of the college provides an excellent platform to showcase the talents of the students by conducting inter batch arts and sports. The convocation is conducted every year for the outgoing batch which is the best programme in the college.

Our college has good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: Students need to appear for the PSC examination to get placements. Internships are included in the course curriculum.

Infrastructure: Classrooms and lab facilities are average. The hostel serves the best food compared to other private hostels. Students have to share rooms with others as there are many students.

Faculty: Our college conducts a university exam every year. The pass percentage is above 50%. Teachers in our college are helpful but there is no permanent faculty.

Other: I chose this course because it has a very good scope for the future.
